Neurologist. Scientist. Studying PINK1 kinase for as long as anyone can remember.
Kudos to the organizers of the @BiochemSoc PINK1 conference (Nov 26-27), @miratul_neuro, Hélène Plun-Favreau, and Nicholas Wood. I got to meet in person so many exceptional people, and I come back full of ideas. It was a lot of fun, hope to see you all soon!
Great start to the @BiochemSoc PINK1 meeting today with a brilliant overview of the discovery of PINK1 as a Parkinson’s gene 20 years ago. Followed up by a really fantastic talk from our DPhil student Rachel Heon-Roberts investigating functional genomics of Parkinson’s
Day 1 of our exciting conference commemorating 20 years of PTEN-induced kinase 1’s (PINK1) significance in Parkinson’s disease research has begun! We look forward to two days of inspiring talks, poster presentations and networking
Check out @JamesLorriman 's paper on the mitochondrial import/cleavage of PINK1, including lots of surprises! Super collaboration with @LabCollinson @RobinCorey1 & @adam_grieve (@BristolBiochem @UoBPPN @BristolUni) @wellcometrust PhD funding (James) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
☕️In this issue: Narendra & Youle review the role of PINK1–Parkin in the quality control of #mitophagy, highlighting the underlying mechanisms and physiological relevance of the pathway, and its role in neuroprotection. 👉🏽rdcu.be/dYvtP nature.com/articles/s4155…
Very excited to present the structural and mechanistic basis for stress response silencing by the monster E3 ligase SIFI. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Looking forward to this meeting tomorrow and connecting with @ASAP_Research colleagues working to better understand #Parkinsons 🙏@pfeffersuzanne who has brought us together.

JOB ALERT! MND Accelerator Award funded postdoctoral position in my lab @mrcppu is now LIVE. We will use pooled CRISPR screening of iPSC motor neurons to identify new targets for ALS/MND. To learn more & apply: ppu.mrc.ac.uk/careers/recrui… Please help spread the word! Thank you.
Insightful talk given by Arpan Mehta @DrArpan100 @mrcppu on his research into motor neurone disease at the @MNDScotland Dundee event today.
Excellent piece in the latest issue of @TheLancetNeuro by @DrArpan100 who describes his experience in our @Stanford @BrOrganogenesis hands-course 👇 These practical courses, in depth discussions, and the open sharing of protocols, along with the global community they foster, are…
A nice Scottish surprise from my colleagues - why I love working at the @mrcppu

Thrilled to share the last review of the lab led by @Tabara_LC and @MayukoSegawa on the mechanisms regulating mitochondrial morphology!!! @MRC_MBU Just out in @NatRevMCB. Thanks @lisa_heinke for the smooth editorial process!

Dundee scientists will lead a multi-million dollar global initiative launched by @MichaelJFoxOrg to better understand Parkinson’s disease and explore new treatment options. The LRRK2 Investigative Therapeutics Exchange (LITE) programme will be led by researchers from @mrcppu.👏
Our latest research on #LRRK2 has just been published in Nature Immunology with @SpringerNature where we show important negative data that this kinase important in #IBD is not expressed and not needed for Paneth cell lysozyme regulation. @mrcppu Read here: rdcu.be/dWnwq
