Application deadline extended!! Neuroscience Unleashed in Jerusalem July 20–24 2025 An international graduate school on consciousness, NeuroAI, brain-machine interfaces, psychedelics & organoids. Graduate students & postdocs: Apply by May 3 2025 iias.huji.ac.il/29LifeSci

I'm excited to share the publication of @GalAtlan 's final PhD project. Title is accurate for the take-home message, yet, there is a lot more to the paper, including the association of claustrum activity to individual variance in strategy. Check it out: nature.com/articles/s4146…
Great work by Jiesi Feng @jiesiF, HuiDong @HuiDong2019 et al., and huge thanks to all of our amazing collaborators including Julieta Lischinsky @julieta__lis and Dayu Lin @moccalin @nyuniversity, Jingheng Zhou and Guohong Cui @NIEHS, Chaowei Zhuang and Hao Xie @Tsinghua_Uni.
(3/3) Check out our bioRxiv manuscript for all the juicy details: doi.org/10.1101/2023.0…. And hey, we're thrilled to share these cutting-edge NE sensors with the research community! 🎁💪 #GRABSensors #norepinephrine
Reminder - Graduate students & postdocs: Apply by April 19 2025 iias.huji.ac.il/29LifeSci

🧠 Updated my open-source SWC Neuron Morphology Editor (runs directly in-browser!)—now with 3D views & custom segment colors (e.g., toggle axons). Demo uses @AllenInstitute MICrONS data. Can't wait to animate neurons for talks! #neuroscience #OpenScience
That’s my son on the floor, getting kicked in the head ! I don’t think I can get angrier than I am right now…

Human cortical pyramidal neurons are larger, exhibit more complex branching patterns, and feature distinctly nonlinear biophysical properties compared to rat cortical pyramidal neurons. Do these unique characteristics make human neurons more functionally complex? Would that…
Congrats to my friend and colleague Guosong Hong for his stunning and original discovery, published today in Science, on clearing tissues *in living animals* with a common food dye! The dye is tartrazine, used in Doritos! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Mazal Tov, Haim!!! 🍾 @HSompolinsky And congratulation Larry!!! 🥂
Yesterday, we had the immense pleasure of celebrating neuroscience as we awarded Professors @HSompolinsky, Terrence Sejnowski, and Larry Abbott with #TheBrainPrize2024 medals for their pioneering contributions to the fields of computational and theoretical neuroscience. Thank you…
Compare a typical brain with a typical modern day datacenter The datacenter mostly runs Artificial Intelligence applications, the brain mostly runs regular intelligence applications The datacenter consumes the power of a small town, the brain consumes the occasional banana
If you’re curious about whether and how you can use waveform and spiking information to predict the cell-type of an extracellularly recorded neuron, 1) yes you can, and 2) check out our preprint to find out! We cracked it for the major cell types of the cerebellum cortex. 1/5 🧵
Have you ever looked at traces from an extracellular recording and wondered what kind of neurons you are recording from? Five labs across three continents working with two species joined forces to solve this decades-old problem in systems neuroscience. 🧵

Sensational work linking connectivity and dendritic integration - congrats team!
Thrilled to share my PhD work, out in @nature today. @fisekmehmet & I developed an all-optical approach to study long-range connectivity across brain areas. Upshot: visual feedback is spatially organized & nonlinearly integrated in V1 apical dendrites. nature.com/articles/s4158…
Our lab has a Nature paper! A truly amazing work by @AdiDoron, showing that Hippocampal Astrocytes Encode Reward Location. You read correctly, astrocytes! We oddly enjoyed the review process! Had sensible reviewers that helped us make the article better! rdcu.be/cUIf4
Hey congratulations @trabranco - amazing achievement, so well deserved. Celebration time 🎉
Congratulations to SWC Group Leader Professor Tiago Branco (@trabranco) on being awarded the Francis Crick Medal and Lecture by the @royalsociety. Read the news: sainsburywellcome.org/web/research-n…
What could be more exciting than neuropixel recordings in cortex during a courtship ultrasonic song? (sound on!)
Excited to share my PhD work! Mice social vocalizations seem to be a complex behavior, but no one has checked whether cortex is actually involved. We simultaneously recorded cortical and vocal activity. 1/6🧵 Preprint: bit.ly/3a53W04 #tweeprint
