Human cortical pyramidal neurons are larger, exhibit more complex branching patterns, and feature distinctly nonlinear biophysical properties compared to rat cortical pyramidal neurons. Do these unique characteristics make human neurons more functionally complex? Would that…

Turns out apical and basal dendrites learn differently! In the newest video i explore an amazing recent paper by William Wright, @Nathan_the_Gray and @takaki_komiyama on different plasticity rules in dendritic compartments 🧠: youtu.be/9StHNcGs-JM?si…

Proud to contribute to this large-scale, multi-lab, open-source collaboration led by @LecoqJerome and @AllenInstitute OpenScope to study predictive processing in the brain. Explore our review and planned studies on arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2504.09614
How does our brain predict the future? Our review of predictive processing + research program is now on arXiv arxiv.org/abs/2504.09614 50+ neuroscientists distributed across the world worked together to create this unique community project.
New neurons in the Neuron SWC Editor. These are abstract neurons that obey Rall’s equivalent electrotonic constraints, each with different branching geometry. Part of @einavher & @IdoAizenbud’s research into how morphology affects a neuron’s computational complexity.
Just got back from the GRC Dendrites meeting in Ventura, California! I presented my research on how single neurons can implement complex nonlinear functions — amazing discussions and brilliant minds all around. #Neuroscience #GRCdendrites #ComputationalNeuroscience

🧠 Updated my open-source SWC Neuron Morphology Editor (runs directly in-browser!)—now with 3D views & custom segment colors (e.g., toggle axons). Demo uses @AllenInstitute MICrONS data. Can't wait to animate neurons for talks! #neuroscience #OpenScience
Now out in PLOS CB! journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…
New preprint (link ↓): Connectionists think that plasticity in the brain might enable it to learn like an artificial neural network. Machine learning people have some ideas about learning, and neuroscientists have some ideas about plasticity. (1/N)
A few wonderful days at #ISFN2025, getting a taste of the current state of neuroscience research in Israel. It was especially exciting to attend a plenary lecture by @brainrhythms that his book "The Brain from Inside Out" really inspired me even before I started my PhD.

🧠 Built an open-source SWC neuron morphology editor! Visualize and edit neuronal structures in 2D, with easy import/export functionality. Perfect for pre-processing morphologies before @neuronsimulator simulations. Try it out: deangeckt.github.io/swc_editor/ #neuroscience #opensource
