The Trump administration is demanding the Federal Reserve slash interest rates. Ironically, that would likely cause your borrowing costs to rise, says @ernietedeschi bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
Committing capital Y axis crimes to own the Fed? Believe it or not... Jail. Joking aside, it is *objectively* important to know how inequality arises & its effect on the economy. Labeling that course of study as "activist" is simply a exercise in ideological name-calling.

Desperation.
Collins: Who is responsible for giving the president accurate information?Powell, was correcting him on live TV. “No, he wasn’t” Collins: So when he’s saying there’s a 3rd building, he’s wrong? “No”
We are so back.
It looks like new marriages are (shockingly) stronger than in past decades. 🧵
"The policy of work requirements is really a policy of work reporting requirement. This is nuanced distinction but very important. Inevitably, people who are engaged in work will lose healthcare coverage because they failed to properly document or report that activity."
A note about Medicaid work requirements, false negatives, and a better path forward. There’s an ongoing debate about whether able-bodied adults should be required to engage in productive work to qualify for the social safety net. Most Americans support some level of personal…
If you divorce the stakes of this visit from.the content, I don't think I've seen anything this funny in a long time.
This could literally pass as a scene straight from The Office
She looks like a TV villain from a campy spy show.
Considering the gravity of the treason allegations, the answer to a direct question like this should be equally direct + detailed. The number of documents released is inconsequential. The substance of those documents (or lack thereof) is everything.
100% this! Of course this can readily be *explained* by the political power of “old people.” But, it cannot be reasonably *justified* on either moral or economic grounds.
A social safety net that transfers resources from working-age people to non-workers makes sense, but within the category of non-workers we are massively overweight on "old people" relative to "kids and their caretakers."
Shocked face.

The "I'm just a comedian" schtick was disingenuous from the start. It contributed to us taking our responsibilities as citizens less seriously and lulled us into a sense of being well informed because we watched a "news" segment.
I have long held the (unpopular) position that one of the most damaging things that happened to the political health of this country was the Daily Show. One side laughing at the other causes the former to become unserious and the latter to become resentful.
At some point, so these people ever tire of being nothing more than shallow, online rage baiters? Do they think this weird political moment will never end and they'll stay in this position forever?
Yellen: I don't talk to Secretary Bessent. He has undone everything I worked on at Treasury. Bessent: "I couldn't even tell you what Secretary Yellen's China policy was, aside from consuming beer and mushrooms." via @bobdavis187 thewirechina.com/2025/07/18/jan…
I think my rule is slowly becoming to never trust anyone who says, "You are being lied to."
Johnny Harris doesn't understand Supply & Demand. He claims bird flu did not hurt supply enough to explain massive price hikes. But, if demand is very inelastic, the data match the model. I estimate a recent elasticity of 0.17; exactly in line with the research avg of 0.18.
It's even shaped like a taco.
Results from a new economics experiment just came in.
Stop putting comedies in the drama category and vice versa.

Wrong. We can see the effects of tariffs on prices pretty clearly. Compare the change in prices across tariff-affected and unaffected industries. The reason we aren't seeing aggregate effects is the Federal Reserve is tightening monetary policy to keep prices stable.
It's almost like the economics profession doesn't fully understand tariffs
It's almost like our VP doesn't understand tariffs.
Unlike the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Producer Price Index (PPI) doesn't include imports. Tariffs only indirectly affect PPI through later stages of the production process.
This is the answer.
I focus a lot on HIV mothers protecting their babies because it’s urgent, common, and sympathetic. But, for Matt’s example: It’s because he’s a beloved son of God, just like you, @MattWalshBlog. Jesus was willing to die for him alone, just like for you.
It's been signed into law for what... A week now?
Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., introduces a new bill to repeal some of the Medicaid cuts in Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill, which he voted for. "Now is the time to prevent any future cuts to Medicaid from going into effect," Hawley says. Full text 👇
