The academy for philosopher-builders (http://www.cosmos-institute.org). A law unto myself, just like you.
Every builder's first duty is philosophical: to decide what they should build for. AI is beginning to decide what ideas reach your mind—your next action, your next job, your next relationship. It will tempt you to outsource your thinking in ways you’ve never been tempted before.…
Cosmos started with a simple idea: Bring brilliant people together to think seriously about how to build AI for human flourishing. 10,000 of you are now part of this community. Just getting started. Join us or share with a friend: blog.cosmos-institute.org

The Math Olympiad is great, coding is important, accelerating science has tremendous value. But LLMs give a chance for both cultures to contribute in ways that have not been possible for a long time.
Don't leave AI to the STEM folks. They are often far worse at getting AI to do stuff than those with a liberal arts or social science bent. LLMs are built from the vast corpus human expression, and knowing the history & obscure corners of human works lets you do far more with AI

Question the quietness of the cosmos
One of the things that distinguishes humans is our “educability.” This is a concept Turing laureate Les Valiant frames in a similar way to the @fchollet @arcprize idea of intelligence. Les gave the 1st annual Cosmos Lecture on this subject: youtu.be/FcZFmNDPqp8?si…
Intelligence isn't a collection of skills. It's the efficiency with which you acquire and deploy new skills. It's an efficiency ratio. And that's why benchmark scores can be very misleading about the actual intelligence of AI systems.

It took me a few weeks to get to it, but you’re absolutely correct, Andrew. I’ve never heard anyone speak as much sense about “AI” as this guy, @mbrendan1. And you can hear that his thinking is based on a refined grounding in epistemology and economics, which is required. Thank…
