Hey sorry real quick what do you mean Kris Letang liked this
I animated Fleury's iconic save from the 2009 Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals and Mike Lange's call of it for my final project in my animation class.
an important point in all this
and in circumstances where the nhl continues to be the only major league sport that refuses to implement a domestic violence or sex assault policy, it's at least arguable that the pa has an obligation to oppose the league's position on behalf of players given the lack of policy.
🚨 EVENT ALERT! This is a great opportunity for folks in the SLC area, and PWHL greats Hilary Knight and Mellissa Channell-Watkins will also be in attendance! Be sure to share with the #TusksUp fans in your network! 🦣🏒

if you’re able to donate, even if its a few dollars (no amount is too small), i encourage you to support Athletes Empowered. they’re an organization that support victims of abuse within the sport community in Canada. i stand with you E.M. athletesempowered.ca/about-athletes…
You read a story like this, from @KatieJStrang and @RobsonDan on the absolute circus that was the Hockey Canada trial, and you marvel at how anyone can find the courage to come forward with a sexual-assault allegation, especially a very public one. nytimes.com/athletic/64294…
Excellent article that clearly lays out how the trial was stacked against EM and the bias against survivors in court. The players’ memory gaps were from alcohol and time but EM’s lack of perfect recall about a deeply traumatic event was evidence she was unreliable. Disgraceful.
In the end, what is the final message of the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial? It could have been a reckoning, but it was something else. From @KatieJStrang and me — nytimes.com/athletic/64294…
Those men should never ever be welcome back into the nhl, nor should they even be out on the streets. If you think otherwise then you are not welcome on my page.
Heart hurts for EM today. I understand that the onus of proof was not met. That doesn’t make her story untrue. She was put through the wringer with the victim blaming during the trial. I fear it will deter other SA victims from coming forward in future.
Sick to my stomach reading about how the judge says EM's testimony is unreliable especially when Brett Howden literally said he left the room because of how uncomfortable he was hearing EM cry from being slapped so loudly and then him conveniently not remembering saying that.
tw hockey canada, sexual assault
It feels important for me to share this today as the acquittal is the icing on the cake of hockey's disgusting culture and treatment of women drive.google.com/file/d/1e8jetH…
Reminder that for god knows what logical reason, this text was excluded as evidence.
“Dude, I’m so happy I left when all the shit went down… Haha. Man, when I was leaving, Duber was smacking this girl’s ass so hard. Like, it looked like it hurt so bad.” – Brett Howden text message to Taylor Raddysh on June 26, 2018. The judge overseeing the sexual assault trial…
tw: sa if you're watching the verdict of the hockey Canada sexual assault trial come in and all you care about is whether an accused sexual predator can play for your hockey team, you need psychological help
Absolutely disgusted by the verdict and the commentary in the hockey Canada wjc case. I hope all 5 players and any team that acquires them rot in hell. Hockey will never be for everyone until it is safe for everyone.
That her text messages were admissible but Howden’s weren’t was a sign of how stacked against EM this was. Believe survivors.
systems that were set up to protect predators rarely ever give justice to victims it takes a lot of courage to come forward. nonetheless, always believe survivors
In light of the trial verdict coming out tomorrow, here is a thread with donation links to orgs for women who have been victims of SA. I will be sharing for each city an NHL team is located in. Whether you have the means to donate or not, I urge you to repost this thread.
Worth noting that research has found sports gambling: - Depletes household savings (1) - Increases household risk of bankruptcy by 25-30% (2) - Has led to a ~9% increase in intimate-partner violence (3) Pretty clear now that legalizing it was probably a bad idea
“It’s a disease” - Lucas Giolito on Sports Betting via Newsweek. He’s absolutely right.
Yes it does!
Now it just needs women's ice hockey. cc: @KeithGave
