Of the 3 new coaches in the PWHL, all 3 are men and only 1 has experience coaching women at any level (Brian Idalski in Vancouver). Sparre has no head coach experience, and Steve O’Rourke (Seattle)'s high level of coaching was the OHL. What are we even doing here?

How can the Sirens improve attendance at home? My latest for The Ice Garden ! >>
Much has been made of the Sirens' lackluster attendance, but it's not a lost cause. Here are some ideas to help grow crowds in Newark. theicegarden.com/five-ways-the-…
The perfect time of year for getting unreasonably annoyed when people say “college hockey” when what they actually mean is “men’s college hockey”
i don’t care if something good happened to you it should’ve happened to me
7.25 x 7 for Boeser in VAN
Really unfortunate. Drouin did the Avs a big favor with his last contract w/ understanding that a contract w/more $+term would follow. Obv other factors at play, and it’s a business, but just a shame that the Avs won’t be holding up their end of that bargain.
Jonathan Drouin will be going to the free agent market on July 1st. Over the last 2 seasons in Colorado, he’s registered 93 points in 112 games (0.83 Pts/Gm).
There's one more player heading to New York in this year's #PWHL Draft....Zohran Mamdani. Other news here: offsidenewsco.com
In honor of Juneteenth let’s remember the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes: a league established in Nova Scotia made up of black players, most descendants of american slaves. Honor their past and celebrate freedom. Hockey is for everyone.
as the game grows, i really hope we get more journalists with integrity and professionalism covering womens hockey and culture. the teams and the fans deserve it.
It’s a tough pill to swallow to lose Carpenter and Schroeder, but every team is losing players like that. New York still has Sarah Fillier, they still have Ella Shelton, they’re drafting first overall. Kayle Osborne is an excellent goalie. No need to sound the sirens quite yet.
PWHL Vancouver made an immediate splash on the first day of the expansion teams' exclusive signing window, inking defender Claire Thompson. theicegarden.com/pwhl-vancouver…
Have to wonder what other moves are coming for the Avs—they’ll need to move some cap out in order to fill out their D-core. I also think they find a way to keep Drouin after he took a major sweetheart deal last year.
As brutal as it is for fans of the Inaugural Six teams, it's certainly a very exciting time to be a fan of one of the expansion franchises, looking at some of the names that could be available
Numerous stars are available to be chosen in the 2025 PWHL Expansion Draft, but who are the top three at each position? theicegarden.com/2025-pwhl-expa…
Some more PWHL news: The PWHL Players Association has voted to disclose player salaries for the first time in the league's two-year history. An “overwhelming majority” of players voted in favor of the change last week. nytimes.com/athletic/64001…
God I love the Liberty. They have a 37 point lead and they’re playing with the same intensity and desperation as if they were down in a championship clinching game.
Who might the New York Sirens protect in the upcoming PWHL Expansion Draft? theicegarden.com/pwhl-expansion…
The Minnesota Frost are back-to-back Walter Cup Champions. Other news here: offsidenewsco.com
In the words of a very wise woman…hm.
They led. They delivered. They made a difference. Renata Fast of @PWHL_Toronto, Hilary Knight of @PWHL_Boston, and Marie-Philip Poulin of @PWHL_Montreal have been voted as the finalists for the 2025 PWHL Billie Jean King MVP award. 📰 bit.ly/43mabEJ
If the Leafs are unable to re-sign Mitch Marner this off-season, I think it will haunt them for the next decade. He is wildly overhated, and I think you’ll see a sharp decline in Matthews’ production without such an elite playmaker next to him.
