Benedict Option Programmer 🐘 | Writing a fantasy book about immortality | I like griffins and knights 🦁🦅
Everyone who wants immortality has not thought through the consequences well enough. They are not pleasant
"I hope we never do discover immortality. A hundred years, give or take a decade or two, is enough. The constraint is part of what gives the duration its meaning." world.hey.com/dhh/memento-mo…
My (possibly milquetoast) take on this is that it doesn’t have to be either or. Stories can be transcendent or entertaining and there plenty of room for both. Idk if insisting that they have to be “entertaining” is “deconstructionism,” a lot of us are just sick of propaganda
So many people are saying things like this. It’s disgusting. Of course an author needs to make money and ought to entertain their audience, but I had no idea how many people on the Right despise art’s relation to the transcendent. Deconstructionism is not just on the Left.
I honestly can’t tell if this is bait or not. Soli deo gloria
Why would you need a ginormous church though?
Bye bye, RDS. No more spending $200 / month for a separate database instance when I could have just hosted the db on the same server with a mysql-dump backup script.

The fact that Henry Cavill is in this is ironically NOT a good sign. It means they are desperate to gain goodwill from fans. I simply cannot believe they are going to give the one guy who could possibly get it right enough freedom to do what he wants.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 New series of Silmarillion movies slated from 2028 with Peter Jackson directing with Henry Cavill in talks to play Feanor! Jackson confirms NEW deal has been struck between ME Enterprises and The Tolkien estate for the rights to The Silmarillion!
Fellow authors, I am working on a children's fantasy / sci-fi, but as writing is only a hobby of mine, I only plan on writing one book in the setting. Is that basically literary suicide? It seems like every successful fantasy / sci-fi book out there is "Book One of the Swordy…

Somehow I missed that this even exists. Color me intrigued
The Mythmakers, a graphic novel by John Hendrix about the friendship and creative fellowship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, is getting a full-length animated film adaptation. The film will be directed by Justin Strawhand and released under Burns & Co. (via @Collider)
It’s ok to buy art because you think it’s pretty. Who cares if it’s pedestrian
It happens to the best of us.
Most Protestants aren’t Calvinist? I hardly know anyone who’s Armenian. Heck, if I told most people my actual views on the subject, their heads would likely explode.
No, but I’m asked this quite a bit. Some think I’m Catholic since I’m not a Calvinist, but neither are most Protestants 🤣 I try to fairly and properly represent Catholic viewpoints and I don’t like to engagement farm. I also won’t post brain dead and debunked attacks (ex “Call…
Same here. Much more of a Tolkien guy myself.
Wow. I am one of the people he refers to. I never saw a single episode of it.
The comments under this post prove that we’ve seriously lost the plot, relationally. Everyone is paranoid and isolated, and they can’t even imagine trusting a FRIEND enough to live next door. When did living in a neighborhood of strangers become the norm? Cultivate better…
this would be fun for like a month tops....... then it turns into a nightmare scenario
I would unironically like a truly historically accurate odyssey, no matter how derpy it looks.
"New images from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey surprises fans with remarkable historical accuracy" Lol, could you imagine?
*sigh* settle in for the long haul boys. It’s only going to get worse
🚨 Amazon plans to focus on The Rings of Power, the third season is already confirmed and plans to continue the series until the fifth season and has signed a contract for 5 more years. We will have rings until 2030.
This is a tiny bit simplistic but an interesting observation
this is why C.S. Lewis (protestant) made edmund and eustace and J.R.R. Tolkien (catholic) made bilbo baggins
Lots of Watership Down love on the timeline today. Seriously, go read it. It’s LotR but with rabbits
Ok, I’m going in… I expect this will be a warm, inviting movie, like a hug for the whole family.
