In @nytopinion I write that President Trump is failing to be a peacemaker. He is not on track to reduce America’s military involvement in the world and is keeping the United States in a position that invites more wars, potentially much larger ones. Gift link below.
uh this is a pretty big narrative violation? 83% of Americans support giving medicine to developing nations 78% support giving them food and clothing 63% support economic development 61% support strengthening democracy close enough, welcome back liberal internationalism
But is Europe finally making its own choices, accepting that the US is no longer as invested on Ukraine — or is Europe still trying to pull the US along with it?
The EU is moving to lower the price cap on Russian oil *unilaterally* That breaks from the original concept, which called for G7 consensus on any changes It’s the first time I can recall the EU getting this far out ahead of the U.S. on sanctions policy 👏🇪🇺

For 20 months, Israel hasn’t allowed foreign journos independent access to Gaza. Palestinian journos have been doing indispensable work alone, under bombardment and starvation. They are so weakened that @afp was forced to issue this statement for the first time in its history
AFP Journalists’ Association on reporters in Gaza: ‘Since AFP was founded in August 1944, we have lost journalists in conflicts, we have had wounded and prisoners in our ranks, but none of us can remember seeing a colleague die of hunger. We refuse to see them die’
"Had Mamdani lost to Cuomo by 12 points, the entire Democratic Establishment, from Chuck Schumer and Kathy Hochul on down, would have automatically backed Cuomo and blasted apart the socialist assemblyman for attempting a third-party bid." nymag.com/intelligencer/…
The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention – named after Raphael Lemkin, a Holocaust survivor who coined the term genocide – says it plainly: "No more discussions, meetings, reports, sessions, summits. GET FOOD AND WATER INTO GAZA NOW. IF YOU HAVE THE POWER, YOU MUST USE IT."
The @LemkinInstitute is calling on every leader in the world to step in immediately with measures that ensure food and water gets into Gaza right now. No more discussions, meetings, reports, sessions, summits. GET FOOD AND WATER INTO GAZA NOW. IF YOU HAVE THE POWER, YOU…
🚨AFP issues a statement saying this is the 1st time in their entire history their journalists on the ground face death by starvation
An email from UNRWA, with some lines from a colleague in Gaza: “We’re in the death phase. Everything around people at the moment is death, whether it’s bombs or strikes, children wasting away in front of their eyes from malnourishment, from dehydration, and dying.”
A new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. 🇺🇸
Guess the country.
Epstein victim: • says she spoke to FBI about people in Epstein's orbit, including Trump • says Trump came to Epstein’s office and began hovering over her • says Epstein told Trump: “She’s not here for you” White House denies her account. Full story: nytimes.com/2025/07/20/us/…
Almost as if its a cynical ploy to obtain the legal precedents necessary to expel trans people from public life perpetrated by the same people who overturned Roe v. Wade
Funny how all that protect women’s sports energy goes right out the window when women ask for more of the revenue they generate.
Really wild how there are two housing markets now. If you live in the northeast or Midwest, prices are rising, everywhere around you. If you live in the south or west, prices are falling, everywhere around you. And if you live in Florida, the bottom’s falling out.
A new sign of trouble at Bari Weiss's University of Austin—Larry Summers resigns from advisory board over the university's direction. x.com/LHSummers/stat…
Effective today, I have resigned from the Advisory Board of UATX. While I believe very much in the importance of competition and innovation in higher education, and see major problems with the lack of diverse perspective in elite institutions, I am not comfortable with the course…
Does anyone have a bigger gap in terms of how Twitter pundits perceive them vs how normal people do than Obama?

NEW: There’s been a lot of discussion lately about rising graduate unemployment. I dug a little closer and a striking story emerged: Unemployment is climbing among young graduate *men*, but college-educated young women are generally doing okay.
It feels quite meaningful that the only figure with a positive score here is one who can’t run for president again.

Zohran at 7 percent is funny but it is actually good he can’t be president because that means Democrats will need to abstract from his success rather than putting their faith in an individual of unusual talent.
Polymarket just launched their 2028 election and nominee markets and Gavin Newsom is ahead. He would be a terrific nominee and an amazing president. MAGA wouldn’t have a chance after Trump’s disastrous presidency.
Zohran at 7% even though he’s constitutionally ineligible to run for president kinda proves how useless Polymarket is
