This was such a fun 🤩 radio feature to make, one of the reasons I love working at @wnyc. @NYCMayor and @msolurin are radio gold. 💛💛 wnyc.org/story/intervie…
Brian is on vacation this week, so I’m keeping the seat warm. Coming up today on @BrianLehrer: - @brianstelter on all the media stories this morning - @s_nessen on Bedford bike 🚲 lane battle - @tepingchen on remote work & women - And the fight for small movie 🍿 theaters

This is a pretty standard part of campaign reporting: candidates meet and greet voters and reporters observe the interactions.
The use of ICYMI doing a lot of work here. Hard to catch Andrew Cuomo out campaigning if no public schedule is released.

Zohran Mamdani is calling for city-owned grocery stores. NYC already has them. gothamist.com/news/zohran-ma… via @gothamist
Andrew Cuomo's campaign just blasted out this video in a press release showing the mayoral candidate shaking hands and meeting voters – something the campaign didn't show a lot of (at least to press) in the primary.
Great day in the Bronx talking to New Yorkers about the housing crisis and how we can work to make the City more affordable for all
Another day in the hot seat! On today’s @BrianLehrer were talking: - Texas redistricting with @matthewichoi - Charter changes with Commission chair Richard Buery - Menopause! w @DrJenGunter - and kids’ chores w Christine Carrie, head of school at Carrig Montessori School in BK
“Ms. Hansen said about one-third of those were surrendered after their owners lost their housing or were forced to move into shelters or other places that did not allow pets.” nytimes.com/2025/07/22/nyr…
Did a double take here on this NYCgov Instagram. Rents in luxury buildings “as low as $0.”

Still no endorsement of NYC Dem mayoral nominee Mamdani from Dem Leader Jeffries following their Friday meeting. Jeffries reiterates that they agreed to "reconvene with other members of the delegation & high-level community leaders in Brooklyn upon his return to the country."
NEW: @ZohranKMamdani recounts his high school shenanigans. "If I hadn’t gone to Bronx Science, I would have remained within a privileged bubble for my whole time in NYC." In a resurfaced HS alumni podcast, he talks cutting class, playing soccer & cricket: politico.com/newsletters/ne…
Zohran Mamdani flew economy to Uganda, his campaign said, and he actually left Saturday before the video posted. International travel deserves extra scrutiny, given Eric Adams’ trip to Ghana:
"We have a newspaper that's printed once a week, so without the radio station, we're kind of in the blind here, locally." NPR's Frank Langfitt's richly observed story on Allegheny Mountain Radio - which relies heavily on federal $. (Not an NPR station) npr.org/2025/07/20/nx-…
I’ve heard this from a political activist and most recently @CurtisSliwa, but yes, there has been at least one communist elected to the New York City Council. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Cac…
Zohran Mamdani is in Uganda with his wife to meet family. He left Saturday and says he’ll be back before the end of the month. gothamist.com/news/zohran-ma…
love reading these responses
I think I may have repressed the memories at this point because I genuinely can’t remember other than my dad convincing me he could summon the trains and kid me not realizing he heard the train signal and then pretending he was calling it like a cab by whistling and humming 😂
Mamdani says he’s in Uganda to visit family with his wife. He will be back before the end of the month. He also suggests some cheeky headlines for the NY Post.
Good morning! I'm in Uganda to visit family and friends. But depending on your perspective, don't worry or I'm sorry: I'll be back by the end of the month. See you soon, NYC.
oh yes! remember listening for the rumble? and being disappointed when it was the wrong train?
I honestly just listened for when the tracks locked but I honestly can’t believe there was ever a time when we didn’t have this or service underground lol
