International Crisis Group: 'Gaza is tipping from mass starvation toward mass death'.
This was clear from the start and the fact so many figures from the mainstream media have immediately jumped into bouts of performative incredulous confusion shows how genuinely threatened they are by a new left party.
OK so apparently both Corbyn and Sultana are right. This name won’t be registered with the Electoral Commission and isn’t THE name, it’s just a working title for now. Got it?
Hard to imagine a more serious test of the BBC's capacity for impartiality than it's coverage of Gaza. It failed completely with the world watching. Can't quietly row back from that.
A joint statement on Gaza from AFP, AP, BBC News and Reuters
The strategy of building a counterweight to the organising committee from below was always a risky one; I didn't want to build up people's hopes and dreams only for it to go nowhere, but it appears it has worked so far. Let's keep it going til we have a party we can be proud of.
The Green faction represented by Ramsay had absolutely no problem subordinating "climate & nature" to the People's Vote campaign in 2019, lining up behind the liberal centre when Labour had the best ecological platform of any party with a chance of forming a government to date.
The Green Party's policies already include the main planks of the Corbyn/Sultana platform, and Green MPs challenge the govt every week on inequality and the genocide in Gaza. But any party that doesn't put climate & nature front and centre of its work is part of the old politics
Great thread on the way Labour MPs behave when you try to hold them accountable for what they do in Parliament
Had my MP @ChrisMurrayMP at the door. I told him I’d just had to ask my publisher if they can redact a line of my book because of his vote to proscribe Palestine Action. He said he “didn’t want to talk about that”.
New research published by the Lancet finds that economic sanctions imposed by the USA and EU are associated with more than 500,000 deaths per year since 1970, five times more than deaths by war. thelancet.com/journals/langl…
You encouraged it, didn’t you say Isreal had a right to cut off water and bomb schools and hospitals. Even though it’s a war crime?????? with your big face this is your legacy you will be remembered as a war criminal. You still sell them arms and come to drop this? Have shame
I finally realized why Zionist Twitter is so offensive and unconvincing. They only have two kinds of tweets: desperately minimizing horrific war crimes against Palestinians or wildly exaggerating micro aggressions against Zionists. The combination is so outrageously hypocritical…
I think deciding everything democratically from the ground up is a great choice, and would have been in favour of it being made 18 months ago
Unlike Reform, we’re doing things differently with democracy & inclusivity at the core. From the launch to the party, conference, structures & yes - even the name! - we’re building it together. It might feel unfamiliar to you. It’s called democracy. 🔗 yourparty.uk
From a branding perspective this is one of the worst party names ever.
It's time for a new kind of political party - one that belongs to you. Sign up at yourparty.uk.
This 1985 letter to Margaret Thatcher, from the No.10 policy unit, arguing why water should be privatised, is really illuminating because ALL of the arguments are terrible. We can go through them: margaretthatcher.org/document/234496
A lesson from Corbyn is the more you talk about not being antisemitic, the more your opponents will smear you as antisemitic and the more salient the issue will become. Dismissing baseless attacks and pivoting to cost of living concerns seems like the way to go.
Just a US rerun of the Corbyn years: the left were morally obligated to vote for the lesser evil since forever, but the minute the right/establishment don't get their way, the dummy is spat.

The Diane Abbott row shows how impoverished Britain’s conversations about race have become theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
The Abbott affair brings to a head a long period in which the political consensus has been that the most important manifestation of racism in Britain is antisemitism and the worst offenders leftwingers: an absurd view you can only take if you care neither about racism nor truth.
If you believe in the ideas I set out in this essay, and support the democratic roadmap I published earlier today, then please take the time to advocate for them by filling out the @corbyn_project's consultation on a new left party. thecorbynproject.com/pjp-supporter-… Thank you.

Martin Forde concluded Labour operates a hierarchy of racism, where anti-Black racism & Islamophobia are brushed aside. Now we have a Prime Minister who mimicked Enoch Powell with “island of strangers” & suspended the UK’s first Black woman MP twice. It’s institutional racism.
