Developing software one mistake at a time. LEGO obsessed.
Been a while since I was on stage! Fun to present at an internal event today.

this is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard of in my life. does elon not understand that sometimes you block people for your SAFETY? if someone is making you feel unsafe or harassing you, why would you want them to still be able to see what you’re up to? unreal.
good luck to those applying 🎉 explore.jobs.netflix.net/careers/job/79…
I know we all joke about prod outages being a badge of honor. But whoever was behind this one may want to keep that story in the vault until they retire 😅 Either that or go on a public speaking tour talking about that time they took down…the world?
One tweet and I’m reminded why this place is absurd. If you think a tweet about management influence over employee retention is engagement bait then you have no concept of what engagement bait is.
I hate the “people leave managers not job” mentality. It’s more like “bad managers won’t incentivize people to stay, but good managers might not be able to keep them either”.
Fun fact, most people outside the industry assume staff is lower than senior 🤷🏻♀️
"Staff Engineer" is a weird title and one that doesn't really make any sense when you look at the words. Anyone outside of a software engineering org sees it as "An engineer who is on the staff" / "An engineer at some company" ... aka: part of the staff. But "Junior Engineer" or…
I remind people of this every time they make this joke!
One of the biggest security expertise redpills is this is unironically a good idea and the time spent making fun of it was ill-advised for most users whose physical security threat is not a factor in comparison.
Friendly reminder that job titles, even when they use the same terminology, are widely inconsistent across companies. Moving titles up and down with job changes doesn’t signify a change in skill level. It just means that companies don’t calibrate 😅
The longer you go without updating your website the more you’re willing to just burn it down and start over. I cringe thinking about the dependency updates I need to handle 😬
Every time I learn a new part of technology I’m reminded that computers work because people all agreed to follow some convention.

AI is going to replace us all but 2027 but my phone still doesn’t know how to spell my friends name. Sooooo
I love working with colleagues who don’t work on UIs and are always so astounded when I can do something for them in 5 minutes. There is a flip side to the above but this tweet isn’t about it that 😂
