Growing up in San Francisco just ~40 miles from @NASAAmes, I never imagined I’d work here one day. Having also lived in the Central Valley and Southern California, I feel deeply connected to the entire state and its people. That’s why I’m proud to be part of the Wildfire 🔥,…
In a time when misinformation spreads faster than facts, we created a new show: Curiosity Theory is about exploring science, tech, and the ideas shaping our culture and future with curiosity and rigor! Hosted by STEM educator Justin Shaifer & astrophysicist Dr. Dakotah Tyler
In a world with a growing mental health crisis and a growing number of people experiencing neurodegeneration, how might we bridge the gaps? After years of quiet, dedicated work, I am excited to talk more about Sanmai: Sanmai is a Public Benefit Corporation developing a new…
If you want to start a software startup, you should still learn to program. Even if AI writes most of your code, you'll still be in the position of an engineering manager, and to be a good engineering manager you have to be a programmer yourself.
I asked ChatGPT to write me a book called "Undergraduate Physics in 100 pages". It did not go so well lol youtube.com/watch?v=t7PTtE…

Our tutorial is out in @PASPJournal! Benji Metha and I break down the difference between power spectra and other ways to quantify spatial correlation in cosmology and astrophysics.
In a recent open-access tutorial published in @PASPJournal the various approaches and nomenclature used to characterize spatial variations in astrophysics are unified into a common interpretation and description. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…. -JGM
Everyone in SF complains about how every café closes by 5pm and there’s nowhere to work. Introducing Elsewhere: the world’s first late-night café coworking chain for builders, creatives & digital nomads. Launching July 24. Comment your favorite drink & we'll DM you the invite.
Happy to be in your orbit 😊
About two years ago, @malena_rice retweeted one of my tweets! Soon after, @kylekabasares followed me! I followed him back! Then we collected each other across the social medias and in real life. We eventually became more than friends! Coming full circle, it's good to be orbited…
Had a fun time at Sundays in SF today! :)

When it comes to manipulating distribution functions in statistical physics, it feels like some parts are amount to just remembering how to take tedious derivatives of functions using the quotient and chain rule you learn in first-semester Calculus. It pays to know those…

Just got off work and tried Grok-4 on an undergrad topology problem. It took 9 minutes to think and then confidently gave a clean, plausible, but totally wrong answer 😅 Don’t think this one qualifies as “skillfully adversarial.” AI models are crushing benchmarks — but still a…
Grok 4 is at the point where it essentially never gets math/physics exam questions wrong, unless they are skillfully adversarial. It can identify errors or ambiguities in questions, then fix the error in the question or answer each variant of an ambiguous question.
Never thought I’d see the day researchers getting contracts comparable to professional athletes but LFG
NEWS: Zucc offered $200 million to poach Apple’s AI Chief > Apple’s CEO compensation was $74.6 million last year lol > Zucc offered 3x more than Apple CEO > Apple didn’t try to match the offer… LMAO

Trying to get a handle on Roger Penrose’s diagrammatic notation for tensors. Didn’t get it at first glance, but haven’t been using it like him for ~70 years 🥲

If you're getting into LLMs, PyTorch is essential. And lot of folks asked for beginner-friendly material, so I put this together: PyTorch in One Hour: From Tensors to Multi-GPU Training (sebastianraschka.com/teaching/pytor…) 📖 ~1h to read through 💡 Maybe the perfect weekend project!? I’ve…
