We need to stop designing “aesthetic” bike racks and just install functional ones.

Road widening is a bottomless money trough for DOTs. Traffic engineering has an extraordinarily high tolerance for immiseration, injury and death* and zero incentive or accountability to stop building expensive, polluting, deadly infrastructure. * It’s baked into their models.
LAX’s “roadway modernization plan” is 18+ miles of new roadway, encouraging more people to drive to LAX, despite billions of dollars of investment in a people mover and rail connectivity. It will also make getting into the central terminal area hostile to pedestrians & cyclists.
Love how walkable the 600 ft back from lunch to the office is 🥰

The Ike Dike costs ~$55B whereas the economic damage from storms last year was $180B and Hurricane Harvey alone cost $150B. The longer we delay the more it’s going to cost to build, but also in more economic damages. The Ike Dike pays for itself, build the Ike Dike.
This is absolutely fucking bonkers
Rules voted 5-7 to block the full House from voting on my amendment to have a FULL release of the Epstein file. People are fed up. They are fed up. Thanks @RepRalphNorman. Need to put the American people before party!

The people yearn for the NIST standard 1196 cigarettes
This is so awesome. I've been saying we need a "US STANDARD GOODS" store forever. - I want the US STANDARD PANT, KAHKI, MALE. - I want the US STANDARD VEHICLE, PICKUP, SHORT CAB. - I want the US STANDARD GPU. I want the US STANDARD LATHE, DESKTOP, 200mm SOB.
Remember life safety is measured by speed of response, not the actual number of injuries or deaths you’re responding to. A 5 minute response to a dead pedestrian is superior to a 7 minute response to a minor injury. That’s life safety. PS - the actual response time in Houston…
It’s like saying, we’ve spent billions on a highway and we haven’t painted the line markers yet. Laying the tracks is one of the last things you do, especially when you need to build grade separated infrastructure for a train that is going 220MPH.
16 years and $15 billion in and not one high speed track has been laid. This has all the makings of a boondoggle.
And this isn't just about entertainment -- it's also about safety, efficiency, and quality of life. Houston traffic deaths per capita: 4x Seattle Houston traffic serious injuries per capita: 2x Seattle Houston commute time: 2x Seattle Not to mention obesity rates...
"We saw teens, elderly and disabled people using public space on their own terms using their own mobility devices. This is something you don't see in a lot of cities because they are trapped in their home or dependent on others for their mobility needs.” vr.bfluid.com/podcasts/la-vi…

I’m sorry but the mayor just spent months throwing out valid projects with complete disregard to the traffic studies, you can’t just turn around and say “no this traffic study is the only valid one” complete double standard
