Kumar Kshitij Patel
@kkpatelnmh
Final year PhD Student at TTIC and Incoming Research Fellow at Yale FDS. I am interested in distributed optimization, privacy, and data markets.
An ongoing work which has very nice insights for the practice of retaining in my opinion!
New paper "The Limitations of Model Retraining in the Face of Performativity" with @kkpatelnmh out: arxiv.org/pdf/2408.08499 ML deployments are regularly retrained on fresh data. But such retraining can fail to find optimal models, even in simple settings. Two approaches work:
I really enjoyed this conversation with Professor Hadfield. One point that especially caught my attention—and led me to read her book: Rules for a flat world—was the question of how AI legislation should shape incentives for data producers and creators.
Young researcher, Kumar Kshitij Patel @kkpatelnmh, sat down with Gillian K. Hadfield @JohnsHopkins, to delve into her ''interdisciplinary work, career journey, views on AI alignment, and her broader perspectives on AI systems.'' aihub.org/2025/05/22/int… #IJCAI2024 #IJCAI2025
I had a great time interviewing Prof. Nisarg Shah @nsrg_shah at @IJCAIconf 2024! We talked about fairness, policy, and the role of machine learning theory. This was my first time interviewing a ML researcher, another one coming online soon 😁
