A 2020 paper showed that of 500 randomized controlled trials analyzed, half contained fake data and a quarter were purely fabricated ("zombie trials"). These are the "gold-standard" studies on which clinical guidelines are formulated. Medical science is infested by fraud.
Layne is right, as usual. Sugar and high-fructose corn syrup are metabolically identical. It makes no meaningful health difference if you swap sugar for high-fructose corn syrup. Both are equally bad for your health.

I spent 15 years in academia post university. Like many environments, it’s about protecting your job, and getting the most pay for the least work. Noble truth seeking is a tiny minority.

What I have noticed watching people rise and fall in public life is that the cringe moments and setbacks are inevitable, but those who keep building, adapting, and pushing forward and who never give up no matter what happens are those who ultimately rise to the top.
