Post-doc in the Gerri lab @ MPI-CBG. Ph.D. in molecular biology @PauliGroup. Fascinated by the diversity of reproduction and development across mammals!
Huge congrats to @deneke_v, Andreas, @PauliGroup, @KarinPanser, and all authors! It's super exciting to see this finally published! 🥳 Putting together another piece of the fertilization puzzle.
The life of each one of us began when a sperm and an egg came together. But what actually happens at a molecular level? Our latest work @PauliGroup @CellPress reveals a conserved fertilization complex that bridges sperm and egg in vertebrates! (1/8) cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Congrats, Claudia!! 🥳
I am deeply honoured to receive the GSCN 2024 Young Investigator Award! Thanks to @gscn_office for choosing me! Follow this space to see the exciting work we will develop in the upcoming years! @aleachim83 @jo_mathilda @kbriedisgert @Ornella_E @HugoRaveton
In our relaunched Conversation series, Frank van Breukelen tells us about the the common tenrec, which defies the physiology rule book by #hibernating at a body temp of 28C while also being capable of being active with a body temp of just 12C #science journals.biologists.com/jeb/article/22…
🚨 Job Alert for Postdoc! We are looking for a passionate and motivated postdoc to join our team and work on the mechanism and functions of 🐄 embryo cell size regulation. Check the image for more details on the position, the project, and how to apply. (1/2⬇️)
Another win in the Image competition! My movie "Development of Zebrafish monozygotic twins embryo", has won second place in the Live Cell Imaging Category of the 2023 LMA/VIA Image Competition. I am very excited to win this as a twin myself 👯♂️ @LabZenker @ARMI_Labs
ECHIDNA NEWS! Scientists have captured the first images of Attenborough's long-beaked #echidna. It was first described from a flattened skin with a crushed skull collected in 1961 but has not been seen since. This footage proves the population survives.1/2 theguardian.com/world/2023/nov…

Oh, I suppose this is justified by the booming market for whalebone corsets and whale oil lamps there, right? Ugh. How backwards.💔
Breaking - Whaling in Iceland has taken its first victim of the 2023 season. Our partners from @hardtoport have documented that killing this female fin whale took at least two grenade harpoons. One harpoon hit the whale in the side, the other visible harpoon in the head.…
Devastating news just in from Iceland - the Icelandic government will allow whalers to hunt fin whales again after suspending the hunt this summer. Suggesting that better training for hunters, education and better equipment or killing methods could ever make whaling acceptable…
The three Musketeers left Vienna today and gave loneliness a new meaning 💔

If penguin eggs are boiled, the albumen does not whiten but remains translucent this is because penguin eggs have more of a glycoprotein called penalalbumin which would normally help the eggs survive the cold. 📸 photo 1: Donald Morrison
