And then the Justices wonder why there are complaints about judicial activism and surmise Canadians don’t understand what they do. We understand all too well the difference between what they are supposed to do and the job of Parliament.
Cold blooded killers getting lighter sentences? Yes! Canada's Supreme Court has gone rogue again, completely rewriting a law passed by Parliament because they didn't like it. This despite Parliament being clear in what they wanted after deliberation. torontosun.com/opinion/column…
How to upset philosophy professors when you can’t infer values from facts. Reply, but every being is good in virtue of the fact that it is a being.
So I can’t comprehend why I have waited until 55 to read Robert Browning when this has been sitting on my shelf unopened for decades. He is so good!

Rereading this. It is hard to believe it came out 30 years ago. I still enjoy his writing, clear, direct and charming.

Every philosopher refashions Socrates in his or her own image.
"Recipes are not what we need, nor do we need to be reassured – our need is to escape from meaninglessness." ~ René Girard
You need to cultivate the virtue of humor, without it you'll fall into despair.
Thinking I need to get around to reading more Kierkegaard. But where to begin?
“Universally all creatures whatever union they have, they have by virtue of the beautiful.” St. Thomas Aquinas
Aquinas notes that Ps Dionysius in the Divine Names uses an obscure style and “a dark pen”. One wonders what he might have said about Hegel’s style….
