I am incredibly proud to be endorsed by @DisabilityLab for the CAC Disabled Members Rep. As a disabled member of the Labour Party I want to ensure that #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs is a value that underpins all that we do. Conference is just the start.

Ten questions I want the Orgreave Inquiry to answer 40 years after the Battle of Orgreave, when police brutally attacked striking miners, the Govt has finally conceded a Public Inquiry. Paul Winter, who was arrested there that day sets out what he wants. labourhub.org.uk/2025/07/22/ten…
Excellent input on @bbc5live this morning from @labourlewis and @AlistairBurtUK on the grotesque actions of the Israeli gov’t in Gaza. It’s time for action, not strongly worded letters. Lewis also spot on to raise impact of climate change on migration & the political response.
Orgreave is an ab initio event for what happens in the UK for the next 30 years. It leaves a tainting legacy over treatment of the public and the behaviour of police leaders. Any inquiry will need to fathom this.
When you learn about acts of British state violence 80s-90s there are often connecting silvery threads. Sometimes names you recognise in different places. I promise you Orgreave is the origin event for so much of what happens next which is why inquiring into it was so vital

“There is much to welcome in the Govt’s proposals, including the reduction of the voting age to 16. But there's a danger that young people’s enthusiasm for our democracy will be dampened because First Past the Post excludes so many voices from our politics.” 💬 @LisaSmartMP
