The fact that it was FBI agents who wrestled Sen. Padilla to the ground and cuffed him speaks to the alarming abuse of sensitive government agencies by this administration--beyond the the unprecedented, unjustifiable military buildup in a major American city.
None of this is new, or random, or out of character for this DHS. Chris Murphy listed all the ways Noem has overseen a lawless and out of control agency a month ago.
Secretary Noem, your department is out of control. You are spending money you don't have. You are violating spending laws daily. You are making up your own immigration law. You are disappearing people just because they oppose your President.
Tragically, the outrageous assault of Sen. Padilla today is becoming normal behavior for a Trump administration which is moving us toward authoritarianism. The American people do not like petty tyrants. We defeated King George in 1776. We will defeat King Donald.
If this is how this administration responds to a Senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farmworkers, to cooks, and to day laborers throughout California and across the country. We will hold this administration accountable.
