This might be one of my favorite stories I’ve written for the PG Fans lined up hours before the 6:41 p.m. first pitch at PNC Park to snag a Mac Miller bobblehead, and it was clear how much the Pittsburgh native meant to the city. My story for @PGSportsNow post-gazette.com/sports/pirates…
Miami makes the ranking here as a member of the “next five.” #RiseUpRedHawks

The Pirates know Gavin McKenna plays hockey, right?
Tonight’s paid attendance at PNC Park was 38,041, the third sell out of the season. And at one point in this game, all 38,041 people were chanting “Sell the team.”
We’ve got LOUD, ballpark-wide chants of “Sell the team” after Mike Tauchman’s bases-clearing double to put the White Sox up 7-3.
It is an absolutely packed house here at PNC Park for Mac Miller bobblehead day. A super special environment.

Covering this for the @PittsburghPG and @PGSportsNow tonight at PNC. The people of this city love a lot of things, but it’s hard to beat Mac Miller.
The line outside of PNC Park for Mac Miller bobblehead day was so long that you couldn’t see the end of it from the upper deck Fans were lining up at 8 AM for a 6:40 PM Pirates game against the White Sox
The Pirates and Chicago White Sox squared off at PNC Park in the first game of a three-game series. The two teams are, for lack of a better phrase, not very good. So, why did fans of either team pay to be there? My story for the @PittsburghPG/@PGSportsNow post-gazette.com/sports/pirates…
The wave has broken out here at PNC Park. It’s gone around probably five times to this point. The score is 7-1 White Sox.
This is the first time I’m seeing Luis Robert Jr. in person, and, man, there’s still plenty of talent there. A beautiful diving catch in the bottom of the third and an absolute bomb to left field in the top of the fourth gives Chicago a 4-0 lead.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my brief time covering Pirates games, it’s that the pitching staff has impeccable taste in music. The warmup songs have been 10/10 each time.
I’m 99% sure that if MLB came out and said they want to get rid of the All-Star game and replace it with the World Baseball Classic, the majority of baseball fans would say yes in a heartbeat, viewership be damned. But sure, why not make a disingenuous post online about ratings?
All-Star Game viewership by sport: MLB: 7.2 million viewers NBA: 4.7 million viewers NFL: 4.7 million viewers NHL: dumped their All-Star Game Baseball, folks. 📈📈📈

The rational baseball fan in me does not care about the result of an objectively awesome All-Star Game’s finish. The irrational baseball/Yankees fan in me believes that it’s hilarious (and sickening) that Jonathan Aranda was chosen for the derby and not literally ANYONE else
The All-Star Game will be decided by a Home Run Derby. The participants: American League: Jonathan Aranda, Randy Arozarena, Brent Rooker. National League: Pete Alonso, Eugenio Suarez, Kyle Schwarber. Each batter will get three swings. The team with the most home runs wins.

Tarp on the field before the game ✔️ Blown lead on Skenes day ✔️ Extra innings looming ✔️ I feel right at home
