📍The Gleniff Horseshoe is a spectacular glacial valley tucked beneath the Dartry Mountains in north County Sligo. This 10 km loop—whether done by car, bike, or on foot, showcases towering limestone cliffs rising from a serene rural valley, with sweeping views of Donegal Bay⛰️🏞️
On the morning of the 1982 All Ireland, a journalist asked Offaly manager Eugene McGee how badly Offaly wanted to win. He replied, “there’s men in that dressing room who haven’t had a pint since last Wednesday night.”
I believe the last time that Sligo Rovers trailed by 2+ goals in a LOI match and still managed to win was 23 Sept 2006 against St Pats. The last time they did it away was 8 November 1981, also against Pats. Rovers won 2-3 after a youngster named Paul McGrath had put Pats 2-0 up.
Cork 2-3 Rovers 🏁 FT' | Not for the faint-hearted – but what a game of football #Bitored | #Since1928
Second Cork collapse in a week. But what a stunning comeback from Rovers. Glad they had such heart, cos mine was on the brink. Up the #bitored

Well done to Peter Maguire 👏 A former Bit O’ Red Academy player from U15s to U20s and a graduate of the ATU Sligo Rovers Scholarship, Peter was part of the Dungannon Swifts team that claimed a brilliant win over Vaduz in Liechtenstein tonight 🇱🇮 #Bitored | #Since1928

As cancer survivor, I'm privileged to take part in the fundraiser Relay for Life at ATU Sligo on Sept 13/14th. I've never asked before, but this is a great cause. If you can share/donate I'd be truly grateful. All details in link. (not me in pic btw😊) relayforlife.ie/fundraisers/ji…
Easily the best thing you’ll see today😂 Sharlene Mawdsley legging it down the road against Tipp legend Buggy O’Meara.
Can't help it, I'm an auld cynic. They needed a good TV game. A Galway derby, a Dublin derby, a Munster derby, a tough one for us and a cinch for Shams. Some #faicup draw. Up the #bitored.
Always a Sligo angle. Tipp's sports psychologist Cathal Sheridan a proud Sligoman, following in the footsteps of multi All Ireland winning performance coach, Caroline Currid. What a phenomenal display by Tipp. A joy to watch #AllIrelandHurlingFinal
First Hurling experience and this is what I’ve gathered. It’s a game played by men built like rugby players, trying to score field goals like American football but also goals like football using hands like handball but also bats called Hurley’s similar to Lacrosse while…
50 years ago today, one of the truly great Sligo sports stories, as Sligo win Connacht Senior Football Championship, beating Mayo 2.10 to 0.15 in replay at McHale Park. It was county's first Connacht title in 47 years, and it's only been done once since. Legends.@sligogaa

We had a two year old plonked in front of the telly. She's now the mum of our three grandchildren. #LiveAid40 is like a soundtrack to our lives.Nice to think there may well be people watching tonight who, as children, had their lives transformed by that incredible day. #LiveAid
Rovers transformation has been phenomenal. MOTM performances all over the pitch tonight. Young Reynolds is astonishlingy good. Midfield energy off the charts. Delighted for John Russell too. Survival and good cup run incoming. #bitored
Recall going out to Bellaghy to report on the Nestor Cup crossing the border from Mayo into Sligo territory for first time in 37 years. In pre camera phone days, bought a disposable camera in local pharmacy. Pic ended up on front page!Great day, terrific memories. @sligogaa
July 8th, 2007, Sligo beat Galway in thrilling Provincial final to win Connacht Senior Football Championship. Hard to believe it's 18 years ago. Time to end the wait. Maybe next year🤞

Watching #LiveAid40 evokes such incongruous emotions. Nostalgia -the magnitude of it all, Geldof's manic energy, the brilliant music; and then the despair of children still shamefully and needlessly starving 40 years later. Have we really learned anything?
