I've pivoted a bit from criminal justice to disability journalism in the last year. If you have a media outlet, make sure you have disability coverage and not just "health reporting." They are very different! A thread of my recent disability-focused work. 🧵 1/
It’s a clever way leftists have found to hate us by wrapping their bigotry in class consciousness, even though relying on these services and jobs harm disabled people the most.
Why are people griping about disabled people using door dash?
The number of "leftists" "socialists" "communists" I've encountered who are utterly convinced that any disabled person can get assigned a caregiver if they need one and if they don't have one then they're just not trying
I know Julia Métraux left twitter but golly she is so important and breaking ground in disability journalism I hope other outlets follow the lead established by Mother Jones and Teen Vogue

The left is very concerned with how poor people spend their money lately. A lot of the Doordash discourse sounds like Reagan era talk about welfare moms
When I order from a restaurant, I tell them what they can include. If they mess up, I get a refund. I’ve only found four microwave meals I can tolerate. And I have to order them from different stores and they’re rarely in stock. I still react sometimes bc not fresh and MCAS
Look, if you want to order food, do it, but don't complain that your subsidized delivery slave isn't being subsidized by a corporation anymore. Like, restaurant food is "better" by virtue of having a shit ton more butter and salt. I don't think frozen food is that much worse.
Leftists of all people having faith in the government taking care of people
like how many times are they gonna bring up meals on wheels man lol
Since @benryanwriter - alleged journalist - decided to make up a story about my work, i have decided to share his inauspicious beginnings on this app.
In case anyone needs further clarification. Here’s the typo he strategically used to make him a big account: 1st screenshot:” The outbreak is occurring almost entirely among men who have sex with me.”, him gloating about it in the 2nd, & literally saying "Stealing this." in 3rd.
For those of you that remember the ACT UP story I published last year, this journalist is busy very boldly and recklessly rewriting history. And providing his own receipts to expose his own lies! Fun stuff
Justine got one of my top 10 haters ejected from ACT UP for being, she claimed, ableist, for saying it was bad to criminalize disease transmission.
I presume that every person who snipes and sneers and jokes about the claim that disabled people need DoorDash (and other food delivery services) are actively working in their community to help disabled people who can't shop/cook for themselves? Right?
every genius in the quotes is so right, disabled people are at fault for all doordash's sins and not the CEO making a bajillion bucks a second nor the incompetence of gov't refusing to take care of society's most vulnerable. you! are! doing! PRAXIS! soooo good!
Doordash nonsense again debunked: “Disabled people could just get a caregiver instead of using food delivery.” My 83 year old disabled dad can’t even get insurance to pay for a caregiver. And he has Medicare + blue shield 1/
the people saying you shouldn’t order doordash are also ‘vacationing’ in hawaii and dubai so i don’t really care for their take on the matter
