In long COVID patients, researchers observed chronic immune dysregulation, exhausted T cells, and reduced cytotoxic NK cells hallmarks also seen in viral-related cancers.
If you listen to one thing about Long COVID this month, it's this. So sad I missed this months ago. viavid.webcasts.com/viewer/event.j…

Good News! Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has called for universal respirator use in healthcare settings & when performing patient care outside of healthcare settings (eg – in the home) in the latest edition of CSA Z94.4, Selection, use and care of filtering respirators.
Let’s talk about COVID, brain damage & society. Specifically, what happens when a neurotropic virus repeatedly infects the population, targeting the frontal lobe & almost nobody talks about the consequences? This thread is for the skeptics. I’m a neurologist, stay with me 🧵
Interesting comparison of different PM sensors outside the lab. Great customer service to replace with a better functioning model.
🚨 Model X2 Update! 🚨 The SEN66 sensor was a bit too chill about wildfire smoke. 😬 We ran tests. We saw the issue. The new Model X2 will use SEN55 + SCD30 for better outdoor PM. 🎁 Free replacement for all X2 owners! 📖 visiblair.com/products/real-… #AirQuality #WildfireSmoke

Prenatal SARS-COV-2 infection in pregnant women is linked to developmental delays in toddlers: "At 6 months, 33.3% of infants exhibited cognitive delays, 20% communication delays, and 40% motor delays, increasing to 35.71%, 64.29%, and 57.14% at 24 months, respectively."
More on this! More screening should be done prior to contrast studies. Apart from kidney function, high-oxalates, vitamin supplements, microbiome composition (low oxalate-degrading bacteria), & genetic differences can create a recipe for significant harm. udshealth.com/blog/hidden-ri…
New UNM study shows how gadolinium from MRI contrast can form harmful particles in the body—potentially causing serious kidney issues. Foods high in oxalates and supplements like vitamin C may increase the risk. hscnews.unm.edu/news/unm-scien…
"A submaximal 2-day CPET protocol revealed a reduction in oxygen uptake, oxygen pulse and partial pressure of end tidal carbon dioxide, suggesting dysfunctional oxygen transport, utilisation or both may contribute to long COVID"
A new peer-reviewed publication from our @DerbyUni x @sheffhallamuni x @Northumbriauni research team has been released online which suggests problems with oxygen transport, usage or both may contribute to Long COVID symptoms. [link to publication]: physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/EP…
Would you drink the glass of water on the left? If not, why are you still breathing in dirty air in poorly ventilated indoor spaces? 17/
Read @StuartTurville latest pre-print on how COVID changed with Omicron to use receptor binding differently ( biorxiv.org/content/10.110… ).
20- So how did the virus get here and why? Early on I would hypothesise the virus was replicating in an animal and tissue that primarily may have had RAS-ACE2. Turns out the collectrin like domain where TMPRSS2 binds is highly conserved across many animals (e.g. Bats).
2- But Omicrons use endocytosis right? They no longer use TMPRSS2? They don't cause cell-cell fusion? Yes and no..... For the longest time we see primary Omicron cultures that look like this:
Hospital-acquired/ nosocomial #COVID infections should be "never events". This is happening now in 70 hospitals in 🇨🇦 (from 10 provinces & 1 territory) participating in Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program. BC hospitals are well represented health-infobase.canada.ca/cnisp/viral-re…
Post-COVID cognitive decline is real - and visible in the brain. A new study used brain imaging (PET) + EEG to analyze people with “brain fog” months after mild COVID-19. They found: suppressed brain metabolism slowed brain waves even in those never hospitalized.🧵
Hey @spacewxwatch, the two photos below, one the clearest picture of the sun taken by @NASASun, and the other is my photo of nerve fibers in the brain using the microscope. Close enough? Does nature repeat itself?😜☀️🔬
I’m just gunna keep watching the Sun, I’ll let you know if anything interesting is going on over there 👀😆
