“The full flow of humanitarian assistance must be restored immediately.” Would it be anti-Semitic if she were to forgo the passive voice and say “Israel”?
Aid organizations report that thousands of children in Gaza are at risk of starvation while trucks full of food sit waiting across the border. The full flow of humanitarian assistance must be restored immediately. news.un.org/en/story/2025/…
Mayor Adams has recently dismissed federal mistreatment of people in NYC as not his problem. He finally acknowledged in this letter to the feds that “New York City has a strong interest in ensuring that basic human rights are being respected anywhere in its jurisdiction.”
“@NYCMayor yielded to mounting political pressure and called on the federal government Wednesday to immediately inspect conditions inside the shadowy ICE lock up on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza in lower Manhattan.” thecity.nyc/2025/07/23/26-… via @THECITYNY
He thinks he can get away with anything as long as he backs ICE against his own constituents, but...there are still state prosecutors.
there were more apparent straw donors to NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ campaign this past spring, @THECITYNY reports: thecity.nyc/2025/07/24/eri…
Weak. Feckless. Mediocre.
NEW: @NYCMayor has sent a letter to Trump Admin asking for an immediate inspection of 26 Federal Plaza.

Thought experiment: Force local residents already facing skyrocketing monthly rents to compete with tourists paying day rates with their saved-up vacation money. Guess what'll happen?

ICE has turned me away from this Manhattan detention center multiple times and it’s clear why. These innocent people are being treated as less than human in terrible conditions. I won’t give up getting answers and exposing this immorality. thecity.nyc/2025/07/22/vid…
I could watch a feature-length documentary of people lying. The subject here is deadly serious but the performance is top tier entertainment.
REPORTER: Did the president or anyone in his administration ask you to delay the resolution until after recess? MIKE JOHNSON: No. But as you all know, I speak to the president multiple times a day. Often. Always. He agrees with everything I've said here today.
“I love interacting with fellow humans.”
Andrew Cuomo's campaign just blasted out this video in a press release showing the mayoral candidate shaking hands and meeting voters – something the campaign didn't show a lot of (at least to press) in the primary.
In New York's parole system, Black and Brown New Yorkers are disproportionately denied release. The NY State Legislature needs to pass the Elder Parole and Fair and Timely Parole bills — because it's long past time for parole reform and parole justice. Justice can't wait.
“In one alleged incident in April at the downtown Miami jail, staff turned off a surveillance camera and a ‘disturbance control team’ brutalized detainees who were protesting a lack of medical attention to one of their number who was coughing up blood.”

This report by @NYSComptroller on growing overtime expenses for state agencies notes the reduction in DOCCS staff but does not note: (1) related changes in prison population (2) Inspector General report on DOCCS’ workers comp abuse or (3) “quiet quitting”. osc.ny.gov/files/reports/…
NY state prisons have a staffing ratio, as of 7/1/25, of 2.8, meaning they are as richly staffed or more richly staffed than more than half of the last two decades. Yet programs are routinely canceled because of "lack of staff". Worth investigating IMHO.
They can call it a "staffing crisis". But given that DOCCS is actually staffed at normal levels, recruitment campaigns, hiring pimply teenagers to do the job, etc., won't address the problem.

“During his warehouse visits, Donlon also learned the department didn’t have a functional tracking system to find evidence for police or prosecutors, court papers say.”
The argument for rolling back discovery reform was that prosecutors supposedly couldn't turn over evidence in time, so cases were being dismissed. Supporters of discovery reform said the problem was NYPD's failure to turn it over. Well, see item #4 here: gothamist.com/news/5-claims-…
Good, honest headline in this @Gothamist article. gothamist.com/news/several-n…
Spend a week at Alligator Alcatraz, Homan.
ICE’s detention standards are among the highest in the nation. Detention isn’t a punishment. We detain removable aliens while they await final removal proceedings.
