A wonderful display from the Red Arrows at @airtattoo today but we have to remember their hawk jet is going out of service, so it was also good to catch up with @AeralisJet - a British SME developing a potential replacement.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Cllr David Busby, a stalwart of local government in Babergh for over 20 years, and someone whose views I very much respected. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. babergh.gov.uk/w/tributes-pai…
🥀Labour faces a clear choice: back our plan or keep bowing to union pressure that puts self-interest before patients. 🩺 If this Labour Government truly wants an NHS that works for those who need it, there's only one answer.
The NHS shouldn’t be a plaything for left-wing unions. It’s too important. We’ll ban doctors from striking and take our health service back from the BMA.
Persistence pays off - Labour have finally listened to our repeated calls to scrap the imposition of IHT on forces' Death in Service payments. But they should never have proposed such a terrible idea in the first place.
Fantastic news - Labour have u-turned, ditching their terrible plans to impose Inheritance Tax on ‘Death in Service’ payments for unmarried service personnel. Mark Francois & I repeatedly called on Ministers to think again, so this is very welcome. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/…
Simply heartbreaking for the countryside - ‘record number of farms close’, due to the Family Farm Tax: telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/…
Veterans’ charities - like the North Essex and Suffolk Veterans Support Group - play a critical role in the armed forces’ family.
The North Essex and Suffolk Veterans Support Group make a really tangible difference to the lives of local veterans, and I was delighted to join their recent breakfast meeting in Mistley.

Alarmed at today’s findings from @YouGov - 78% of veterans think ‘the Government isn’t doing enough’. This is no wonder, given Labour’s plans to repeal NI veterans’ legal protections.

It's official: Yet another critical Defence policy paper delayed under Labour. This time, their Defence Housing Strategy👇
I am honoured to have been appointed Chairman of the Conservative Party. I want to pay tribute to my predecessors, Nigel Huddleston and Lord (Dominic) Johnson, whose dedication and hard work have laid the foundations for the future. Their efforts in navigating challenging times…
It was a privilege to speak in yesterday’s debate ahead of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day - a chance to honour the extraordinary sacrifice of those who served in the Pacific theatre of WW2.
#FarmSafetyWeek begins today - a vital reminder that nothing matters more than protecting those who keep our farms running. In my latest Suffolk Free Press column, I highlight why supporting our farmers is essential to safeguarding our food security👇jamescartlidge.com/news/my-latest…
Looking forward to responding to this afternoon's debate on the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day👇

A particular highlight of @airtattoo was seeing so many stands showcasing drone tech & autonomous capabilities.

Super to be at @airtattoo today supporting our world leading UK Defence industry #RIAT25

Responding to today's Government Statement, I reiterated why backing Ukraine matters so much to our own national security👇
Good to meet a group of South Suffolk farmers in Westminster. They only want one meeting with the Government - with Exchequer Secretary James Murray, to discuss the #FamilyFarmTax. So I’ve asked again if he’ll make the time to do so.

Great to chat with leader of @suffolkcc @HicksCllr & Devolution Cabinet member @RichardRout in Parliament today. We discussed local government reform & how to ensure that Suffolk gets the right deal.

This morning’s news that inflation has shot up to 3.6 per cent - and remains well above the 2 per cent target - is deeply worrying for families. Labour’s decision to tax jobs and ramp up borrowing is killing growth and stoking inflation – making every day essentials more…
