Secured a landmark victory by successfully suing the CPS for violating my human rights by failing to prosecute my rapist 🟦 BBC Doc: Sexsomnia: Case Closed? 🟦
I am thrilled to share that I’ve achieved a landmark victory by successfully suing the Crown Prosecution Service for breaching my human rights by failing to prosecute my rapist. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
3 Rape Crisis centres have already closed this year. Over a quarter more fear they’ll be next. With more than 14,000 survivors on waiting lists and over half of centres expecting to cut counselling, this is a national emergency.
Three Rape Crisis centres have closed in the past year. Of the remaining centres, a third risk closure – and half are worried they may have to cut counselling services. This is a funding crisis – we urgently need more government funding 📢 Read the report rapecrisis.org.uk/news/more-than…
1 in 8 women faced sexual assault, domestic abuse or stalking last year, new data shows. The ONS confirms it: violence against women is not rare. What’s rare is justice. What’s rare is being able to access local support. What’s rare is accountability. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Accountability is key - 426 officers dismissed in a year is significant, but real change needs culture shift and proper investment too. lbc.co.uk/news/uk/record…
ISVAs are vital to survivor recovery and justice. But new data shows burnout, job instability, and unsustainable workloads are threatening the future of these services. LimeCulture’s latest survey calls for strategic reform and long-term investment. limeculture.co.uk/isva-workforce…
A GP publicly attacking his son’s rape victim, even after conviction and confession, is a serious breach of ethics. It raises real concerns about patient safety and professional accountability. bbc.com/news/articles/…
Survivors show me every day what it means to make yourself heard - not always through public words, but in quiet strength, personal truth, and the courage to reclaim your story. You inspire me endlessly, and give me the energy to keep speaking out and challenging the system to…
For many survivors, the court process can be as traumatising as the offence itself. These reforms are vital: legal advice on sensitive evidence, stricter privacy protections, and mandatory training on rape myths. The system can’t change without them.
We have published our recommendations to reform the law relating to evidence in sexual offences prosecutions. Find out more and read the full report, including an overview of the recommendations, on our website: lawcom.gov.uk/news/new-measu…
The Law Commission’s recommendations reflect what survivors have asked for all along: proper legal advice, stronger protections, and an end to trials shaped by rape myths. lawgazette.co.uk/news/law-commi…
Throwback to 2022, when I waived my anonymity after the CPS wrongly closed my rape case. I challenged it through the Victims’ Right to Review - but it was too late. This is why the new pilot matters. It gives survivors a chance to be heard in time. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-631754…
This is what reclaiming space looks like - survivors telling their stories, in their own words. Huge respect to the Take the Stand team for bringing this to life.
This month, we spoke to Louise about her experience and gave her the opportunity to read her Victim Impact Statement. Listen here or on Apple Pod open.spotify.com/episode/1L3yCb… Do you want to tell your story? Email us at [email protected] #victim #abuse #victimimpactstatement
I went through the VRR process - and while I felt heard, it came too late for my case. But it doesn’t have to be too late for others. The pilot is a step toward a future where survivors are listened to in time. We’re not just asking for the pilot to stay - we’re building a system…
Very positive meeting with Solicitor General @LucyRigby this morning, discussing the findings of my Victim Attrition Review and progress made with the Victims Right to Review scheme. We also discussed public understanding of sentencing and increased access to the ULS Scheme.
CPS inspector says the justice system is in a national emergency. Backs Leveson’s jury trial reforms but warns: change can’t wait - victims need action now. A clear call to move beyond the status quo. Joshua Rozenberg reports ⬇️ rozenberg.substack.com/p/radical-acti…
This powerful new report from @centreWJ lays bare how the justice system is failing victims of coercive control - punishing them instead of protecting them. Urgent reforms are needed. centreforwomensjustice.org.uk/news/2025/7/16…
This looks set to be a powerful and necessary documentary - offering raw, unflinching insight into the realities of the family court and its impact on survivors and families. Breaking the Silence: Kate’s Story airs Sunday 20th July at 10.20pm on ITV.
Advised to maintain contact with her rapist to avoid ‘parental alienation’ claims. Kate Kniveton’s story exposes deep failures in the family court. A powerful piece and no doubt a vital watch. Breaking the Silence, Sun 20 July, 10.20pm, ITV. thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2025-0…
Absolutely this. Support for perpetrators can’t come at the cost of survivors. Funding must reflect the urgent, life-saving role of frontline services - not leave them fighting to stay afloat.
While action on perpetrators is welcome, this level of funding must matched for services that provide survivors life-changing and life-saving support. We need urgent action to address the funding crisis in frontline services supporting women and children. endviolenceagainstwomen.org.uk/government-fun…
This clip captures a key moment in my journey - submitting a Victims' Right to Review, receiving an adverse outcome, and learning my case couldn’t be reopened, even after the CPS admitted their mistake. I’ve been calling to strengthen the VRR system ever since. The recent…
Disappointing move that breaks a key public pledge. Closing half of London’s police front desks undermines the Met’s promise of accessible, community-based policing - especially at a time when trust in the force is already fragile. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Rape Crisis concerned by Home Office decision to invest £53m in Drive Project. I get this completely. It’s hard to see major investment go toward perpetrator programmes while survivor services continue to struggle for funding. rapecrisis.org.uk/news/rape-cris…
Have you been through the CPS VRR process? If you’ve had any experience with the Victims’ Right to Review - whether recent or in the past - I’d really value hearing from you. No pressure at all, but if you're open to sharing, feel free to drop me a message.
