Men and women are co-heirs with Christ now. Men and women will together be co-rulers with Christ in the eschaton. We are all “sons” in the legal logic of scripture. IMO, all that’s reason enough to seriously question any sacralization of gender hierarchy among Christ’s people.
I think “I like this better” is a perfectly valid for someone to change denominations. Just know that your impulse to switch, and your ability to do so, is rooted in Baptist ideals. We’re all Baptists now, baby.

If you give up being a Baptist, you give up one of the biggest perks of being Protestant--being punk rock. Baptists are the bad boys of Protestantism. You stick it to the clerical man, you can do whatever you want theologically--I mean you can really let your freak flag fly.

Watched last night. Calling this horror is worse than calling The Bear comedy.

Not easy to hear, a little too easy to say
This won’t be easy for people to hear, but there are only about 200 professed Catholics still living in Gaza and they all support Hamas.
Marissa captures the narrow and selective moral handwringing of Magnoliagate so well in this thread.
Saw a post where @DennyBurk incidentally dehumanizes two children in his ire at Chip & Joanna. Moralistic litmus tests are revealing. I’ve never seen Christian concern re: normalization of consumption, discontentment & greed on display in home reno shows. 🧵
I’m not at all saying Trump is Hitler. Just that authoritarian regimes have always found ways of penetrating and ingratiating themselves with right-wing religious leaders who feel culturally embattled.

The Scopes trial turns 100 this month. Kelsey Hanson Woodruff writes about the legacy of the Scopes trial in Dayton, TN, and how one resident, Rachel Held Evans, tried to push evangelicalism beyond Young Earth creationism's culture war battle lines. patheos.com/blogs/anxiousb…
Baptists started about three years earlier 😏😏😏
Protestantism didn't start in 1517. Protestants are Catholic. We started in 33 AD. Reformed Catholic, not Roman.
SPOILER ALERT But if your dad is telling you to to rule humans with an iron fist and take a harem of women for yourself it’d be luciferian not to rebel
James Gunn inverted Superman from "only son sent by his Father to save Earth and show humans the way" to "fallen star rebelling against his maker to protect the 'Human Way,'" turning Superman from a Christ figure into a Lucifer figure.
Honestly? Game plan is to not kill a human. Try to de-escalate. Try to repay evil with good.
People who don’t have guns I’m genuinely curious You wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of a window breaking and realize an intruder is in your home What’s your game plan?
I can’t explain it but Chris Rice writing off Beavis and Butthead’s salvation as a goof in The Cartoon Song is like the chef’s kiss of 90’s evangelical subculture in all its contemptuous glory
All this Metalcore talk, and rarely ever a mention of Zao. This is a huge Zao appreciation post. What a fantastic band.
Just me but if you’re going to be mad at insanely rich Christians for something, be mad at them for being insanely rich

there was a guy in my row at my Superman screening who brought his literal baby but it didn’t cry and when the movie was over he said to my brother and me “I bet y’all thought he was gonna cry”
