Looking for someone who has studied / is studying graduate entry dentistry BDS (preferably at UCLan) and would be willing to speak to a PA about the course and application process. Please share among networks to see if we can help a PA colleague hoping to change careers.
I’m just a bystander in this ‘battle’. But wanted to say how lovely it was of you to acknowledge someone for simply helping you with something that improved your clinical skills. Wishing you all the best with your future training, your Trust are lucky to have you :)
Pls RT: If you are a PA or PA student wanting to apply to medicine, feel free to leave your details here to be added to an online mentorship group ran by myself and other PAs who have gone on to study medicine: forms.gle/VS9HBP4NZmsKS7… pls share among networks

Exactly this
I think there’s a genuine argument that medical school is hard to get into as we fail to address disparities in entering it. And the unis that create these disparities also produce PA courses that just widen disparities rather than addressing it.
Today I had a conversation with a PA who would love to be able to study medicine. But they are single parent and have a mortgage. Current funding arrangements make it *impossible* for someone in this situation to retrain and become a doctor. This is not ok.
"I really do see it from both sides—there are no winners out of this." Former physician associates who have made the move to medicine speak to @Erin_Dean_ about the realities of the PA role bmj.com/content/386/bm…

If you are a PA or PA student wanting to apply to medicine, I will be hosting a Q&A session alongside other PAs that have gone to medical school. It will be on Monday 19th August at 8pm. To sign up, drop me a DM. #physicianassociate
MedTwitter pls RT: Any qualified PAs (or PA-S2) applying to medicine this year, drop me a DM if you’d like to be added to a closed group with other PAs also applying to medicine, for peer support and encouragement through the application process ✨
A simple post thanking a colleague. But the same old accounts just can’t help themselves, with the same few comments they always make. No wonder they are the dominant voice, they have to be loudly negative constantly
On my first full day of FY1, a PA helped me obtain a blood sample from a paediatric patient, and gave me some helpful tips. This was just the first day, there will be many times during this rotation and others where PAs provide valuable contributions to patient care & to the team
@itsdoctormighty posted about being helped to do some bloods by a PA Objections though I may have to the current situation how is this not an appropriate skill for her to have help with on her first day We should be smart enough to realise this nuance and avoid witch-hunts
You make a valid point. Any qualified PAs applying to medicine this year, drop me a DM if you’d like to be added to a closed group with other PAs also applying to medicine, for peer support and encouragement through the application process.
