Nisi Solum Jesum
"The Lord is the strength of His people..." - from the Introit of the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost.

They removed 14 books from your Bible in 1684. The Lost Books of the Apocrypha. Most Christians don't even know they existed... But religious leaders fought to keep them hidden. Here's the shocking truth about the forbidden books they didn't want you to read:
"... just as we do believe thine Only Begotten Son, our Saviour, to have this day ascended into the heavens, so we may also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with Him continually dwell." from Laudes of the Ascension of Our Lord.

I'm determined not to get on the outrage bus in responding to Pope Leo's every word or action. He is not going to restore tradition, the crisis in the Church will continue, and I will not agree with his every word or action. All I hope for is that his Pontificate will be an…

"... grant Thy peoples that they may love what Thou commandest and desire what Thou dost promise, so amid the changing things of this world, our hearts may be set where true joys abide." From the Collect of the 4th Sunday after Easter.

A clear condemnation of this unjust law. The Bishop points out that it is the seal of the Confessional that is to be broken and not attorney/client privilege or doctor/patient confidentiality. A direct attack on the Faith from someone who claims to be Catholic.
Please read my statement about the Washington State Law mandating clergy to report abuse of minors with no exemption for the seal of confession. Clergy: reportable to God or to State? tinyurl.com/4whveavz
Pope Francis has died and with him finally dies the Vatican II era. May God have mercy on his soul.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all He hath done for thee, and thy youth shall be renewed like an eagle's." Offertory - Ember Friday of Lent

"I Myself will seek My sheep and visit them. As the shepherd visiteth his flock, in the day when he shall be in the midst of the sheep that were scattered; so will I visit My sheep, and will deliver them out of all the places where they have been scattered." Ezechiel 34:11-13

I certainly don't miss him pitching us to the wolves.
I still miss Pope Benedict XVI
This new cathedral is a triumph of agnostic Modernism. While there used to be some effort to retain some Catholic symbols amidst the sterile emptiness, they have now succeeded in eliminating all visible Catholic elements. Thus the intent of "noble simplicity" is revealed.
This is what 40 million get you for your new Cathedral when you are a #Catholic Bishop in Germany: an eggshell altar. Dedicated to the 'supreme being"? The building is a visible sign for the dead #German #church - it is a shell without any life inside. Nobody will pray here.
As soon as I saw the original picture I immediately thought of Ed Sullivan and his odd relationship with Topo Gigio

An excellent article by Fr. Kevin Cusick at Rorate Caeli on the importance of the TLM. The key quote is "the Mass is at the center of the battle for our faith and salvation" and that everything else is a distraction. This is why the TLM is in the bullseye. rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2024/10/the-mo…

Very predictable. Traditionis Custodes, that ironically named document, maps out the extinction of the TLM as its end game. They have already blotted out the smaller TLM communities, now it's time to club the bigger fish.
JUST IN: #Vatican orders apostolic visitation of Priestly Fraternity of St Peter. FSSP told visitation “does not originate in any problems” but aims to enable Dicastery overseeing them post-Traditionis Custodes “to know who they are” so as to “help” them: fssp.org/en/apostolic-v…
“To do evil, a human being must first of all believe that what he’s doing is good.”
I'm not a fan of Dorothy Day, especially how she is portrayed today. However, I am impressed by her resistance to the often sacrilegious informality that infected the Church after the introduction of the NO. This approach taught that Mass was not such a big deal.
During the 70s, some priests were becoming rather casual with the liturgy. One afternoon, a priest came into the soup kitchen that Dorothy Day was working at. He wanted to offer a liturgy for the homeless. He went into the kitchen and grabbed a mug to use for the chalice.…
The Mass of the Ages is growing stronger again and the Church will be renewed. It's already happening and cannot be stopped because it is a work of God.

May well be true, but why the imprudent rush? Makes it seem more like a political decision than a one made for the good of the Church.
Reading Carlos Acutis’ life for an interview tomorrow. He wasn’t a saint because he knew how to use a computer and wore sneakers. He was a saint because he conformed himself completely to the self-giving love of Christ. He’s a mystic. Not a meme.
