Congrats to the @harpersmagunion!
WE WON OUR UNION! Up next: bargaining with management to make @Harpers a more equitable and inclusive workplace.
Our lowest-paid colleagues remain lowly paid—it’s a disgrace. As city-living increasingly costs more than we can bear, how can we be expected to go on? Our union proposes an answer: better wages. I’d say that’s a fair request, wouldn’t you?
It took management five months to tell us they’re offering NO increase to our salary floor. Meanwhile, the cost of living in NYC is higher than ever. We deserve livable wages so we can afford to keep making the magazine we love. Please support our fight for a fair contract!

Solidarity with Student Workers of Columbia, this is happening now!
Columbia fired our union president the day before we start bargaining—less than a week after allowing ICE to abduct our coworker. Join us tomorrow to make sure they can hear us from the bargaining table!
If you love @NYMag and the work that @NYMagUnion does to make it, join our friends like Julia Fox, @theannadelvey & @bejohnce and add your name to our pledge to support us in the event of a walkout: nymagunion.org/reader-pledge
Despite our willingness to compromise, management has rejected our sensible proposals again and again. Enough is enough. 97% of our members have signed onto a pledge to do whatever it takes to get a deal, including a potential work stoppage.
Rest in power, Jane McAlevey. Writing about her book No Shortcuts for @Harpers in 2017 taught me so much about what it takes to build collective power and actually win. A seriously inspiring and illuminating book: harpers.org/archive/2017/1…
