Our system neuro approach to model willful seeking of a starvation state in mice, which is a hallmark of anorexia nervosa . Now published @NeuroCellPress cell.com/neuron/abstrac… Big thanks to @andermann_mark and @Oren_Amsalem @andrewlutas and Trent Pottala
Anorexia nervosa is a curious eating disorder where individuals go against their homeostatic needs and practice food restriction and self-starvation. We focused on a single symptom of this complex condition to see what it could teach us bit.ly/3IjaJ4A
I am thrilled and grateful to share that I’ll be starting my lab at @ISTAustria in June 2025! We will study how the hypothalamus maintains homeostasis in response to challenges. Check out our website: dmhlab.org, and if interested please get in touch!
Podcast episode 98 is out! We explore the world of neural circuits with @andermann_mark from @BIDMChealth & @Harvard. Hear how our brain controls hunger & satiety, and what happens when these systems malfunction. Listen on all podcast platforms. Watch on YT:…

A big Thank You!!! and deep appreciation to my colleagues, friends, collaborators and mentors for dedicating their expertise and countless hours of hard work to develop a new type of biohybrid neural interface towards synaptic deep brain stimulation: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I've been spending time analyzing open-source systems neuroscience datasets, and my general impression is that there are major problems with how people organize their data and write their code. This needs to be a bigger part of training.

TL;DR: Students who embody scientific dispositions familiar to faculty are easily recognized and rewarded with more opportunity to develop cultural capital in science. Faculty, do you recognize students who differ from your internal model of a scientist? lifescied.org/doi/10.1187/cb…
My daughter: What are you working on? Me: Proofs for a paper.. My daughter: Awwww. You’re listed last. Does that mean you worked on it the least?
Hi, thanks to Lynn Nadel & Sarah Aronowitz I wrote a book chapter on multiscale predictive representations that connect the past to the future, memory to planning. There's still time to edit it & I'd love to read your comments! Am I missing citations? arxiv.org/abs/2401.09491
First lab research paper! We explored insula's activity patterns (the infamous "manifold"). We found very consistent manifold structure and dynamics, allowing decoding across different mice and different motivations. Check it out, feedback welcome! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
An incredibly detailed and indispensable resource that is sure to be a game changer for so many projects. Congratulations to all the authors!

Textbooks may need an update now 🤓 Proud to be part of this! Congrats to @AmeliaMDouglass et al who meticulously worked over the years to get this story together.
I’m over the moon to share my postdoc work @Nature, where we provide an answer to the longstanding question: how is the body’s stress response system (the HPA axis) activated during starvation? nature.com/articles/s4158…
Join me this Friday! I will tell you about my career trajectory and research, and you can ask me anything... For Students & Postdocs only.
📢 Save the Date! Join us on July 21 at 10 am for an exciting AMA session with Dr. Sabine Krabbe (@SaKrabbe), an expert in Neural Circuit Diversity. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights and ask questions! #ibehave #AMA #neuroscience #networking
I am excited to share our preprint on how hypothalamic hunger- and satiety-promoting neuropeptides compete at the level of cAMP to regulate feeding. We imaged endogenous peptide signals in subcellular compartments during behavior. Below are the findings: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Ever wonder how gut feelings get processed in the brain? Our latest study in @NatureComms found that an ingestible vibrating capsule produced changes in both stomach sensation and gastric-evoked brain activity: nature.com/articles/s4146… (1/12) #interoception #neuroscience
