Happy to share our work on hippocampal inflammasome signaling. Thank you to members of the lab for critical experimental support, @BIG_Center_UVA colleagues for input, and @LukensJohnR for baller mentorship - it's been an honor working with you all! cell.com/immunity/fullt…
🍍We're excited to share that @Gutbrainmatters will showcase their knowledge, advancements & excitement about the GI tract @ the Kids Food Fest🍎@MarblesRaleigh May 3 & 4. 🍐Come check out their booth displaying the journey of food within the body! 🧑🍳marbleskidsmuseum.org/kids-food-fest
Huge congratulations to Dr. Diego Bohórquez for receiving the prestigious #PECASE award! 🎉 Groundbreaking work on the gut-brain axis in the Bohórquez lab is truly inspiring and deserves this incredible recognition. Excited to see all the amazing achievements ahead! 🌟#GIGoodNews
Diego Bohórquez PhD & Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein PhD were honored with a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers #PECASE, the highest honor bestowed by the US government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers. duke.is/z/793w
#aging #bioelectricity Ever wonder what the bioelectric patterns of mortal vs. immortal animals look like? Or how resting potential gradients look in Hydra? Here's a preprint @SteffiKapsetaki osf.io/preprints/osf/…
#FlashMob! 🕺🏽 The @Duke_GI_ researchers win 🏆 for the most creative way of honoring the best GI Chief that ever existed! @AMuir_DukeGI @KaelbererMaya @gutbrains @RuptheScientist @jatinroper @khsaratsingh #DancingQueen
Super cool work from @RuptheScientist #GTSRC24: incredible tools allow her to see sucrose send signals to the brain via intestinal neuropods to vagal nerve to make them happy (and keep eating sugar) and find the genes involved in part by shining lights inside their guts. Wild.
Laura Rupprecht just gave us a great lecture on neuropod cells. FYI, she is hiring at all levels for 2025. If interested, be sure to contact her @RuptheScientist #ssib2024
The application for summer 2025 Grass Fellowships is now live at grassfoundation.org/fellowship-ove…! Applications are due November 15. Please share with promising early-career neuroscientists. The Fellowship provides 14 weeks of sponsored research support at @MBLScience in Woods Hole, MA.
So happy to share our new work that is now out @sciencemagazine: We show how neurons in the mouse zona incerta (ZI) modulate infant social behaviors and learning. This work was led by the AMAZING graduate student Yuexuan Li @yuexuan_li. 🎉science.org/doi/epdf/10.11… #ScienceResearch
Our own @KaelbererMaya and @emilyalway7 at @MBLScience, in case anyone was wondering why they’ve been missing from the @gutbrains lab.

On the Huberman Lab podcast episode out now, Dr Diego Bohorquez of @DukeU explains how neurons in your gut sense specific nutrients (or lack thereof) in foods you eat & signals circuits in your brain to drive food cravings & aversions. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hub…
