Like many of my colleagues, I'm utterly disgusted by this column in @TorontoStar: thestar.com/opinion/star-c… Many colleagues of mine have expanded upon why this article is so troubling and inherently misogynistic. I'll chime in with an answer that's even simpler: 1/2
I'm been a music fan my whole life. I've been against censorship in the arts my whole life. In the 1980s, a very different challenge - there was a strong-voiced, well-funded censorship lobby coming from the "religious right" telling us as kids & teens what they deemed to be…
We are barely shaken by this anymore. 5 years ago we’d have been stunned. 10 years ago this premise was impossible because it never happened.

Really well-reasoned, & well worth your time, & I agree w/ the sentiments about hockey & it’s culture. It’s, shamefully, travelled the fewest feet forward of all the major sports in my lifetime - it’s that simple.
As the only female writer @HeavyHockeyNet, I felt a responsibility to share what I think many women are feeling in the wake of the Hockey Canada SA trial verdict. The verdict landed—but accountability never showed up and I’m not one to stay silent. heavyhockey.com/2025/07/26/the…
I don’t believe or agree with anything he says or does but I’m also scared of the ‘slow creep,’ banning something somewhat controversial because the message doesn’t align with your beliefs. That’s frightening.
This is so well written, Greg. There’s plenty of music out there that I may not agree with the lyrics, or raise my eyebrows. The great thing is I have a choice… I don’t have to listen to it. But to have this anarchism happen in Canada, as you said is slow creep into frightening…
Also... 1. For no good reason, taking on a Christian artist who would have drawn maybe 200-300 people to a live gig during (supposedly) intense trade talks w/ the USA -- is not going to go unnoticed. 2. Would these people protesting last night have protested Amy Grant in 1991?…
DTown has made a huge transformation in the last 10-15 years. Absolutely beautiful and I feel safe downtown day or night! Love Detroit!
I really need all of the (mainly) men who commented on so many of the Hockey Canada trial posts to read this. EM was paid off to silence her about this situation by Hockey Canada when this first happened. THE CROWN was who decided to bring this into court as a criminal case.
Beyond the scope of this verdict in London, I have some things to say about Hockey Canada. Not enough has been done. That organization MUST be renamed and rebranded, & I hope all parties involved (every single World Juniors player - not just the 5 charged - AND the accuser take…
Thanks to Catherine for this story, despite the terribly upsetting news. I knocked doors in the neighbourhoods, & on the same street where Arianna Goberdhan lived this spring, in the federal election. I didn’t know that until a neighbour told me 10-11 houses in. Told me they’d…
NEW The family of a pregnant Ajax woman murdered in 2017 by her estranged husband is upset. Nicholas Baig was sentenced to life with no chance of parole for 17 years. Arianna Goberdhan’s family thought he would be eligible to apply in 2034 until yesterday globalnews.ca/news/11302894/…
Show open today - It’s called the “Hockey Canada Trial”, not ironically. We need trials for the prior leaders of Hockey Canada who obstructed justice in not just this case, but violated the indisputable rights of accusers & the accused, alike in countless cases of alleged sexual…
Can confirm. And the separation is only growing. Walk up & down Woodward in the downtown core of Detroit. Now do Yonge Street. Way more people on the street - open drug use, dangerous people, homeless people, risks galore for all concerned. Toronto isn’t finished - but it’s on…
Had a great time in Downtown Detroit. Clean city. No raving lunatics, homeless people, or shady refugees in sight. On our way back we stopped at a Wendy’s in Windsor to get something quick. A strung out homeless guy approached our car in the drive thru and begged for money.…
I assure you I talk to more Toronto MPs than Councillor Carroll. They're all disappointed this Council resides in such a bubble, & thinks rules (actually, promises & commitments) don't apply to them. "Carroll's comments are disingenous - full stop." - one told me via text today.
Carroll again implies Toronto MPs aren't pushing for sixplxes. "The suburban members of caucus will tell you they're tremendously relieved to not have to take those calls on sixplexes just yet. So they're kind of sucking and blowing with that letter," she says of the federal gov.
You don’t “promise to do better” after Kyle Beach and write this. The ONLY thing that should’ve come from the Athletic today was Strang/Robson piece. No one needed to know this, today. Shame on everyone involved; from two writers I respect, to the editor that hit publish.

I want BADLY a Blue Jays/Tigers ALCS. We’ve never had it. It’s a fun & respectful rivalry. It’s been rare both teams have been great at the same time. Let’s do this. Both cities could use it. LIKE this tweet if you want it like I do. #BlueJays #Tigers
So many people are missing the boat on this. Thinking these men were not guilty does not mean you need to celebrate them. Please read the details of their behaviour. No decent person would think it’s ok for their son to behave that way or their daughter to be treated that way.…
Remember today that an acquittal does not mean we cannot hold these men accountable for their actions. It does not mean that we cannot set a higher moral standard for our culture. Indeed, it means that we must. thehub.ca/2025/06/06/gin…
We stayed on the #hockeycanadatrial & issues of consent, the law, men/women, & @LWaler & Sharan Kaur shared their stories & how they see the system, its flaws, & where we can all learn & listen. Please share: open.spotify.com/episode/4J83yq…
