Harley Henry 15.26m (0.5) at the Euro U-20 trials to win the triple jump. An agonising 4 centimetres from the 15.30m standard for Europeans, with him already jumping 15.28m (0.0) at English Schools and 15.23m (0.0) at the NAL.
Oliver Patton, who has been at in the NCAA at Oklahoma State, books his ticket to the Euro U-20’s with a clear win in the 1500m. Zachary Dunne, who had 2s on the field, ended up fifth.
A controlled run from Lyla Belshaw to win the Euro U-20 trials over 1500m and get an Auto Q to Tampere. Co-favourite Jess Lark was absent for both 800 & 1500
A couple of major casualties in the 800m Euro U-20 trials heats. Jack Kinrade & Joshua Mungin, who both have the standard, crash out in the heats. Jack Organ very lucky to get through after being caught on the line after slowing down.

Wow. Alani Dumbuya on her sixth round throw, goes over the UKA standard in the Shot Put with a 14.93m PB to head to the Euro U-20’s in Tampere. Great to see a general improvement in throws/jumps at Junior level in the UK.

Katie Pye the top U-20 finisher at the Euro U-20 trials 5k and books her ticket to Tampere. Eliza Nicholson, the fastest entrant, finished 11th.

Laura De Witte 🇳🇱 has announced her retirement from professional track & field. The 29 year old has been a stalwart of the Dutch 4x4 team, notably winning European Gold in 2022 as well as sixth at the Tokyo Olympics. She also won 400m bronze at the Euro U-23’s in 2017.

A late entry for the UK Euro U-20 trials is Innes Fitzgerald, who will go in the 3000m, and will be joined in that event by Jess Bailey. If selected, they would be bar far the favourites in Tampere with their seasons best 10s and 30s clear of the rest of Europe.
The fact that trials are at Birmingham and the Women’s 400m has 25 entries mean Hopefully it will be 3 semi’s and 2Q + 2q for each heat rather than the 4 semis and 1Q + 4q
A new list has been issued of acceptances for UK athletics championships - major absentees. No Matt Hudson-Smith, Keely Hodgkinson (selection if form shown) No Okoye, Mitchell-Blake or Lansiquot. Ama Pipi, Nicole Yeargin, Louie Hinchliffe + Morgan Lake are now on it.
Athlete A having success with Coach X doesn’t necessarily mean that Athlete B will/would have similar success with said Coach X. A,B and X are all human beings and there is usually no constant when humans are involved for a multitude of reasons.
