Excited and honored to be taking the helm at Roosevelt Institute. Our economy should work for the many, not just the few. The Roosevelt community has been instrumental in the fight for shared prosperity, and I can't wait to jump back in in this new capacity. Let's get to work!
We are thrilled to welcome @ewwilkins as Roosevelt’s next president and CEO. 🎉 Her accomplished leadership in organizing, law & government service make her the right leader to champion Roosevelt’s vision of a better economy & democracy. rooseveltinstitute.org/press-releases…
I have spent most of my life making government work for people. But the institutions I love have been losing faith with the public for a long time. If we love government, then when we rebuild it we’ll have to be willing to break some glass to make it deliver like FDR did.
Trump showed how easily the old guardrails of government could be shattered for the benefit of the few. @ewwilkins & Hannah Garden-Monheit remind us: those same rules can be rewritten to serve the many. thehill.com/opinion/white-…
NEW: Giant corporations should not be allowed to jack up your prices or lower your wages using data they got spying on you. Whether you know it or not, you may already be getting ripped off. I’m proposing the first federal bill to ban this practice. nbcnews.com/politics/congr…
One big lesson from recent politics is that government needs to deliver better and faster outcomes. @ewwilkins and Hannah Garden-Monheit are pointing the way for Democrats to do better, and rebuild belief that government can solve problems. Keep an eye on these two...
Congress just gave a paltry tax credit to families while gutting the safety net. We deserve better than that; we also deserve better than we had before. We gotta fight what’s right in front of us and keep dreaming about what could be - like universal child care - to make it real.
We teamed up with @communitychange, in partnership with @EconomicSecProj & engaged directly with parents, providers, & organizers to envision a path to a universal public childcare system that meets the needs of families & providers. Watch what they have to say ⬇️

Learning from what trade did to workers, this time with AI we should make sure “workers are at the heart of it and not just an afterthought who will bear the costs.” Thanks @RepDeluzio for painting a vision of what a people-first tech agenda should look like.
We hosted @RepDeluzio in conversation with @ewwilkins to discuss how workers need to be at the center of decisions about integrating #AI into the workplace—not an afterthought or collateral damage.
She’s the best.
Excited to be heading into the office this am! Top of the to-do list: calling a vote on restoring the Click to Cancel Rule. It’s time the FTC gets back to protecting consumers from real abuses like subscription traps that cost Americans countless hours and millions of dollars.
NEW: DC federal court sides with @RKSlaughterFTC , finds her firing by the Trump Administration was illegal
President and CEO @ewwilkins recently joined the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of Social Security, hosted by the National Academy of Social Insurance in Washington, D.C, and offered an important reminder about the connection between democracy and economic security:
Another win for economic research: Real wages fall as deportations increase! This should change a lot of minds on this website 😜

Roosevelt report out today! How AI is changing the jobs of the govt employees Americans interact with most: the folks who process your marriage licenses, unemployment insurance, driving tests. Upshot: new tech is just transferring more work onto citizens rooseveltinstitute.org/publications/a…
Childcare in America is broken—expensive, scarce, & treated like a private problem rather than a public priority. @ehaspel & @Beckgale on how the US has failed to treat childcare as the essential infrastructure it is #fixingchildcare 👇theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j…

We cannot build shared prosperity while millions of workers are trapped by exploitative contracts. CEO @ewwilkins said it best: "A clear and simple ban on noncompetes is, to my mind, the only way to truly protect workers." npr.org/2025/07/10/nx-…
What are they waiting for indeed, when 30 million Americans are waiting for relief.
(Non-)Update! The @FTC is asking for an additional 60 days (on top of the 120 days already granted) to decide whether they will appeal the universal vacatur of its hugely popular non-compete rule. The FTC already took in >26,000 public comments. Who are they waiting for?
