Einstein Researchers United-UAW
@eruuaw
We are postdoctoral researchers forming a union to improve our working conditions and our research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Great strategy session learning how fellow postdocs in NYC have tackled delay tactics at the bargaining table! ✊💪🦾
At our second-ever contract campaign retreat, NYC researchers discussed strategies on winning strong contracts, fighting federal funding cuts, and raising standards for all researchers✊
It’s more important than ever to win protections for the many of us who are international researchers! The more of us fighting together in @UAW, the stronger we are 💪🦾
“I was first to vote at Ames Hall this morning, 9am sharp! Here’s to stronger protections for international workers.” Polls are opening back up at 3pm-7pm at both Turner Auditorium at East Baltimore and Ames Hall, Room #402 at Homewood. Let’s do this!
We are fighting for federal funding to support our institution 👊 @EinsteinMed should stop rejecting protections for international workers and agree to a fair contract NOW that supports us all‼️
Thank you to Representative @Grace4NY for meeting with us, @cpwuaw @eruuaw and supporting us in our fight to defend federal research funding and international workers rights! #KillTheCuts
This week Einstein postdocs have been fighting back against cuts to federal research funding that @EinsteinMed relies on. At today’s bargaining session, it’s important that Einstein stop rejecting protections and move swiftly towards a fair contract.
Hundreds of academic workers across NYC marched to demand that lawmakers #killthecuts on federal research funding yesterday, part of a National Day of Action!
The attacks on research funding are derailing our careers and stalling life-saving cures. We’re fighting back. Join us on Tuesday at the #killthecuts rally in NYC! RSVP: tinyurl.com/2suhhrx8

Thank you to rep @AOC's office for meeting with us and @cpwuaw about ways federal research cuts are impacting postdocs and international workers. Join us to fight these cuts on Tuesday, April 8th, at 5:00pm at the Central Library steps! #KillTheCuts RSVP tinyurl.com/2suhhrx8

We have election dates! We will have the opportunity to vote to form our union on April 9th and 10th, between 10am-2pm and 3pm-7pm each day, in the Levinson Student Center.
99% voted to unionize. 1 year later — still no fair contract. We’ve had enough! Strike Authorization Vote starts Monday, April 14, 2025.
Postdocs turned out in numbers to the rally. More than a year since we voted to form our union, we rallied with hundreds of postdocs against @WeillCornell's refusal to agree to a fair contract - one that safeguards our appointments, workplace rights, and economic well-being.
Last week at our National Day of Action, @IcahnMountSinai senior researcher @piyushKAVIRAJ spoke about the importance of uniting the scientific community to fight back against cuts to federal science funding. "What unites us is our determination to do the best for science!"
“It’s sad that we have to do this,” Rayna Birnbaum, a postdoctoral researcher at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and one of the event’s organizers, said after the protest, “but it was amazing to see the support." @eruuaw @UAWRegion9 motherjones.com/politics/2025/…
