Minnesotan. Ready to Fight
Profound gratitude for law enforcement officers who spent countless hours keeping safe our members & bringing the man who attacked, wounded, &assassinated our colleagues into custody. Love to my Senate & House colleagues who will emerge from an active threat and begin to grieve.
Minnesota is losing a good one with the passing of Senator Bruce Anderson.

Home from a study trip with @NCSLorg & colleagues from America & Ireland. People expressed grief and outrage over horrific political violence. They honored Melissa & Mark Hortman and John & Yvette with personal stories. This loss is profound. 📸: Peace Bridge, Derry, N Ireland

This is a photo of tenacity.
Now here’s a picture MN can celebrate. State Senator John Hoffman discharged from ICU today after being shot numerous times during assassination attempt. His family tells me he’s moving to a rehab facility and still has a long road ahead. @kare11
In 2010, I was filled with hope as Congress passed the ACA, knowing it would save lives, stabilize providers, and strengthen our state’s budget. It did that. Watching this GOP Congress unravel it all to pay for permanent tax cuts for the wealthy few is reprehensible.

Republicans continue to roll out this terrible trope about those who 'chose not to work.' Fact: 64% of non-disabled Medicaid recipients ALREADY WORK.
Rep. Andy Harris: "Look, if you're able-bodied without dependents and you choose not to work, well, you shouldn't be on a public welfare program. That's the bottom line ... you should be off the public dole. Yes, you will lose your Medicaid coverage. Get a job."
If you cut healthcare to give tax cuts to the wealthy, you should have to bathe & care for the seniors, sick & disabled you hurt. MN’s GOP members represent rural districts whose hospitals are already in trouble. npr.org/sections/shots…
Incredibly moved by the outpouring of love and support at #Pride.

This. !!!
The Hoffman family just shared with me this photo of former President @JoeBiden visiting them in the hospital. It’s the first picture of Senator John Hoffman since his attempted assassination. @kare11
Today, a wise soul brought therapy dogs to the MN Senate. This is Bala, great uncle to Gilbert. 💙 They are called therapy dogs for good reason. 🐾

Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette released this statement tonight about the night they survived multiple gunshot wounds in their home. Prayers for their family…🙏
Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is never given — it is claimed, defended, and carried forward by each generation.

The People’s House lit from within, a beacon burning brightly, at the vigil for Melissa and Mark Hortman.

The memorial for Melissa and Mark Hortman outside the MN House Chamber, for solemn reflection.

US Senator Mike Lee used his platform to inflict more pain on Minnesota. Our Velvet Hammer, Senator Tina Smith, called it out.

I’ve activated the State Emergency Operations Center. Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the full resources of the State of Minnesota behind them. We are monitoring the situation closely and will share more information soon.
I’ve been briefed this morning on an ongoing situation involving targeted shootings in Champlin and Brooklyn Park. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement are on the scene. We will share more information soon.
There are 100 US Senators. It is preposterous that a Cabinet Secretary doesn’t recognize every one of them.
