Writing a book on gen z & risk-aversion // associate editor @reason // Lisa Simpson impersonator. ✉️ Tips: [email protected]
I’M WRITING A BOOK!! GOOD BOUNDARES: Essays on The Age of Risk-Aversion is coming in 2027 with @randomhouse Essays on therapy culture, Luigi Mangione, tradwives, AI girlfriends, and how risk-aversion drives Gen Z’s loneliness and alienation, headed your way soon!

gen z is so profoundly antisocial and lonely. i have witnessed firsthand people being uncomfortable with their roommate's partner sleeping over--which is, i must stress, an extremely normal and important part of being in a relationship.
?????????????????
extremely tragic if predictable iteration of the how it started/ how it’s going meme
Are you a twentysomething trying to date in this wild, wild world? I want to interview you about it for my book! If you’re interested, feel free to shoot me a DM or an email at [email protected]
Everyone loves a wife guy but mfs hate a husband lady
My grandma (b. 1910) was one of 14 on a rural Irish farm. Her mother hauled buckets of water from a communal pump, for hours each day, to supply water for the family/cows. Washing clothes took a full day. No plumbing. The work never ended. This anti-capitalist fantasy is BANANAS.
It depends on your definition of work. Childcare, looking after livestock, and maintaining a home before modern labor-saving devices all require constant attention.
the work week was invented by capitalism. Before that people worked when there were things to do, and then didn't work if there wasn't something to do. It meant they actually had a ton more leisure time, but the work was probably more intense for a shorter period of time
I love this genre of tweet that assumes *work itself* was somehow invented by capitalism. You do not want to be free from capitalism; you want to be independently wealthy!
You don’t hate Mondays.. you hate being exploited by capitalism
I am trying to do this right now and unfortunately the only way this is possible is with protein shakes. They are disgusting and way too sweet but it is what must be done. I make a big one after getting home from work and white-knuckle it over the course of like 5 hours.
trying to get 100g of protein every day is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me
Does the train look like this?

My sense from a million miles away is that undergraduate education has rapidly become more pre-professional (look at the flows into and out of comp-sci, for example, in the last few years) and much less about "reading books, getting drunk, and going to parties." But college…
I don't think we've ever really nailed what the point of college is supposed to be in the first place, but I think it's interesting that so many inside and outside universities have come to imply that the point of college is to have and witness debates about politics.
Fuck it. Elite college admissions should be a lottery with a test score/GPA cutoff. Anything else is madness.
If imma be honest that wasn’t the conclusion you were meant to take from the piece
There should be a gaming element to this as well. Students should demonstrate their adaptability in this new media ecosystem by simultaneously speedrunning Minecraft while debating the most pressing issues of our time
