Yesterday, TrackAthletes.ie, the website myself and @LouiseShanahan have been working on for the past six months, went live. The site will hopefully make it easier (for you guys at least) to follow the sport, watch more events, and keep up to date with Irish athletes.
This interesting from Thompson's Insta yesterday; unusual these days for athletes to call out a system (the NCAA) they've been in themselves until recently (or indeed to make any comment on doping).

Oh, look, another heptathlon to keep track of. Anna ran 14.46(+1.3) in the 100m hurdles, just short of the 14.43w she ran when setting her PB earlier this summer.
This weekend 👇🏼 Competing today: Anna McCauley (Hep), Eng Sn, from 10:30 Nicola Tuthill (HT), WUGs, 13:55 Niamh Fogarty (DT), Gotenburg, 15:15 Oisin Thompson (LJ), CAS, 16:25 Jodie McCann (1500m), CAS, 18:50 Alex O'Neill (800m), CAS, 19:05 Cathal Doyle (800m), CAS, 19:15
Kate adds 190 points to her pervious national record. In total she has now improved the national record by 672 since it was held by Elizabeth Morland (5815pts, 2018).
2:10.46 for Kate O'Connor in the 800m to give her a total score of 6487, a new Irish record, and the World University Games title. Just 23 points short of the Tokyo Auto Q too, but she'll be there either way!
Normal services have resumed, I see!
The most remarkable thing about the performance of the Irish team at the European U23 Championships wasn't even the 5 medals... ... it was the fact that nobody finished 4th. It feels like a while since that happened at a championship?

So, yaknow the way the BBC coverage of the Diamond League starts at 1.15 tomorrow? Does that mean the first 45 minutes will be purely studio chat, or might they show the relays?
All 6 are on the startlist for tomorrow, though not all will have fresh legs! 🍿
In Saturday's Euro U23 5000m final, Nick Griggs could face Olympic 1500m finalist Niels Laros, Euro U23 XC champ Will Barnicoat, World U20 3000m champ Andreas Fjeld Halvorsen, Euro U20 3000m champ Jonathan Grahn and 2021 European U20 5000m champion Joel Ibler Lilleso!
Small update on this: Laros is doing the 800m today, and Lilleso and Grahn finished 1st and 2nd in the 10,000m last night!

Just learned that my busiest week of the year (actual paid work) collides with World Champs 😢I may have to rethink the TrackAthletes plans I had for that week.
The AIU has provisionally suspended Ruth Chepng'etich (Kenya) for the Presence and Use of a Prohibited Substance (Hydrochlorothiazide). Details here: bit.ly/PRESS-RELEASE-…
