The Republican budget bill includes an unprecedented rollback of nutrition assistance — "the largest cut in history," @AlexSJacquez explained on @WENYTV. Millions of working families will feel this at the grocery store and the dinner table.
The Congressional Budget Office's final verdict: the GOP tax and spending bill will cost $3.4 trillion over ten years.
News: A new analysis from the progressive @Groundwork finds that 6 in 10 voters think Trump’s policies will drive up housing costs — and lays out why. “We’re just seeing a sclerosis in the market,” @AlexSJacquez told me. semafor.com/article/07/21/…
.@HBoushey joined @AlexWitt on @MSNBC to talk about how the Republican budget bill disproportionately benefits the wealthy, harms working families, and undermines economic growth. "The [bill] reveals the priorities of this Republican-led Congress and the president."
Worth reading the whole thread (and piece!). In my view, the first thing policymakers should do for workers facing automation risks is Do No Harm. But Trump and Republicans just did *the opposite* with strict work requirements to receive health care and help buying groceries.
The biggest economic issue that no one is talking about: AI is projected to replace 12 million jobs in the next decade. Americans say they're worried about it. But no national politician has a plan for it. A new piece with some ideas, from me, Zoe Jacobs, and Diego Haro. 1/

The Republicans’ budget bill strips health insurance from millions of working families, including tens of thousands in South Carolina. As @BharatRamamurti told @Live5News: “It’s not like people are getting a check to cover their daily expenses. This is health insurance.”
Debt collectors use your credit report to pressure you to pay medical bills, even ones that aren’t accurate or even owed. While the CFPB tried to give Americans relief, @ChopraUSA calls out the Trump admin for siding with credit reporting giants to roll back these protections.
Our team at @Groundwork and @econspeakers have booked local TV or radio on the GOP budget bill in 48 states in the two weeks since passage. The conversations generally lead producers to check in with providers, food banks, etc and amplify the message from local validators
I joined @abc27News in Pennsylvania to talk about how the disastrous cuts to Medicaid put local nursing homes and hospitals at risk of shuttering.
Could Medicaid cuts force one local nursing home to close? Some analysts say yes, while others aren’t so sure. abc27.com/local-news/ana…
One reason Clare will pay more for health care is Trump and Republicans in Congress thought it was extremely important that the wealthiest Americans be able to pass on $30 million to their heirs tax free instead of just $14 million.
Health insurance premiums going up by ~25% in 2026 is going to be a major economic and political problem. And there is no real attempt from the Administration to do anything about it. wsj.com/health/healthc…

Americans are often coerced into paying medical bills they already paid or never owed in the first place. I'll be joining @rolandsmartin soon to talk about the latest ploy to put medical bills back on credit reports. Tune in: youtube.com/@rolandsmartin
Republicans just passed the rescissions bill on a party line basis, the first partisan rescissions bill in history. This will lead to more shutdowns, brought on by Congressional Republicans insisting on the ability to unilaterally change bipartisan approps deals after the fact.
