Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.

I stand with Ukrainians, who have shown that they will not abide tyranny, whether it comes from without or within. Zelensky made a mistake today. He will pay the price when elections come. But Ukrainians will not thank us if we use this as an excuse to abandon their defense.

Zelensky should be given a very blunt and direct message by the EU that he must veto draft law No. 12414 or accession work stops immediately. No "ifs", "buts" or "maybe". A stark choice is necessary.
