Wanna throw fast? 🤔 🚀 What physical traits stand out when you’re targeting elite throwing velocity? 🧵 by @JCondreay
Even compared to our 90+ mph population, he shows outstanding absolute and relative strength. Looking forward, his power still has room for improvement meaning that he's far from done developing on the high-performance side.
The beautiful quad-Launchpad views from the high-speed camera array... only at @DrivelineBB!
Take a peek at incoming @OregonBaseball righty @coopermarkham1 popping 95 in the lab! A few notes:
My first two months at @DrivelineBB Tampa have been eye-opening. I used to believe the only way to get better was to pitch in games, but real growth comes from development within. Here's what I've learned 🧵👇
I saw Jackson grinding on this set of tweets on Sunday. Commitment to getting out elite content from the Launchpad!
All pitchers @DrivelineBB get a motion capture and high performance force plate assessments. These show trainers exactly where the athlete is at, and where exactly they fall short of elite performers. I analyzed all reassessments to see what changes lead to velo jumps🧵⬇️ (1/8)
As spring training started Junk was still a free agent. Nonetheless the hard work with @JCondreay has provided excess surplus value for the @Marlins this year!
Janson Junk is breaking out this season — and it starts with elite pitch execution. His command of a five pitch mix has fueled a dominant first half 🔥
🔥 @DrivelineBB pitchers dominated last night! Trevor Rogers: 15 whiffs Janson Junk: 14 whiffs Both ranking in the top 10 in Whiffs for the day Very cool to see their hard work paying off 💪
If you want to know why 99.99% of baseball computer vision apps are total garbage, here’s a technical explanation. (Driveline employees manually annotate images/video and have done so ever since I built the first lab.)
i stopped using GQA as an eval when i found this woman was labeled a bird and the phone as white. the annotations have a 20-30% error rate. (and it's supposed to be a "cleaned up" version of visual genome, so steer clear of that one too)
Smoltz talking about taking pitcher BP in Fenway and how that experience of hitting off the Green Monster changed his approach to pitching was awesome. That’s when Smoltz is at his best.
You know you are training with the right people when you hear a couple training buddies chirp each other with- "Will you please stop being scared of things that make you better!" 🔥
One of the most slept-on aspects of training: the environment. It’s not necessarily about the newest facility or fancy training tools. It’s about like-minded people, accountability within genuine relationships, and systems that provide guide rails for efficient development.
What makes Jamie Arnold such an outlier? 🧙 Take a look at his pitch mix and his release characteristics - and dive deeper into it on our YouTube channel:
The @athletics 11th overall MLB Draft Pick, Jamie Arnold, is truly a nightmare to face. His slider alone generates a 49% whiff rate against left-handed hitters, and that's just one of the pitches in his elite arsenal.
Excited to publish some new EEG research from Driveline R&D. We’ve got 3-4 active research projects coming out over the next two quarters. Only at Driveline do we have these capabilities and willingness to publish research inside a world-class training facility!
Learning a new skill (or practicing one) may be able to increase your ability to hit a baseball, from smash factor to pitch decision. The simple trick? Juggling. Next month, the research findings from my latest study @DrivelineBB go live. Tune in to see the impact. ——————————…
A look at Oneil Cruz's swing characteristics by pitch type!
Most people can look at data. Few can break it down without drowning in it. Here’s a simple adjustment I think Oneil Cruz can make—based on one key number: his Attack Angle on fastballs. A quick thread 🧵
The Iron Man RP getting his work in!
If you're looking for some shapes, here's @BryanShaw37 showing off a full arsenal AND a little juice at the end👀
Everyone chases bat speed and a perfect attack angle, but that doesn't tell the whole story. @Justin_Sartori breaks why bat path—the combination of swing path tilt, attack angle, AND attack direction gives you a more well-rounded understanding of how a swing works.
Ted Williams knew a thing or two about pulling the ball in the air. AKA pulled “launch angle” batted balls.

We’re cooking again here in the @DrivelineBB Tampa #Launchpad @TommyKoch14 and the boys rooting him on.
I'm the latest 'He went to @DrivelineBB' guy ... but I'm not pitching. A thread on my first piece re: what we learned from have Inside Edge grade 19 Maddux starts: drivelinebaseball.com/2025/07/greg-m…
