Take a peek at incoming @OregonBaseball righty @coopermarkham1 popping 95 in the lab! A few notes:
Most people can look at data. Few can break it down without drowning in it. Here’s a simple adjustment I think Oneil Cruz can make—based on one key number: his Attack Angle on fastballs. A quick thread 🧵
The @athletics 11th overall MLB Draft Pick, Jamie Arnold, is truly a nightmare to face. His slider alone generates a 49% whiff rate against left-handed hitters, and that's just one of the pitches in his elite arsenal.
⬇️HIP SHOULDER SEPARATION⬇️ “Feel the stretch” is one of the most overused and misunderstood cues in hitting. Because when the game speeds up… feel disappears. What matters is timed tension that holds up under pressure.
Interested in getting an idea of the information that the best and most curious of @DrivelineBB employees are exposed to on a weekly basis? I've included some of slides from recent performance continuing education presentations below. As always it's #good2learn.⬇️
Test. Train hard all summer. Retest. PR. Standard protocol.
Everyone chases bat speed and a perfect attack angle, but that doesn't tell the whole story. @Justin_Sartori breaks why bat path—the combination of swing path tilt, attack angle, AND attack direction gives you a more well-rounded understanding of how a swing works.
One of the most slept-on aspects of training: the environment. It’s not necessarily about the newest facility or fancy training tools. It’s about like-minded people, accountability within genuine relationships, and systems that provide guide rails for efficient development.
Cooper Nelson showing out in a recent live ABs session 🔥
If you're looking for some shapes, here's @BryanShaw37 showing off a full arsenal AND a little juice at the end👀
Greg Maddux’s command wasn’t just elite — it was historic. New data shows just how far ahead of the curve he really was. 📊 Full breakdown in our newest blog: drivelinebaseball.com/2025/07/greg-m…
Get beat the right way! For new movement patterns to transfer to the game, you need to challenge them But when you get uncomfortable the old patterns come flying back in. Smash Balls are a game changer for stabilizing new moves without fear of getting jammed or breaking bats
Ceddanne Rafaela may not have been an All-Star, but he’s having a breakout season. Since June 1, he’s paired elite defense and baserunning with a 157 wRC+ at the plate 💥
Why The Best Hitters In MLB Whiff A LOT I wanna circle back to this and talk about why the best hitters in baseball are usually NOT good at making contact and post well above average whiff rates. Lets use Nick Kurtz as an example🧵 1/12
154 wRC+ with 28 grade contact skills. Moving the bat fast is good.
Miami @Marlins 2nd round pick @BrandonCompton_ crushing baseballs (and Smash Factor Balls) at Driveline AZ 🔥

🚀 "Rotation is velocity." 🚀 Want to throw cheese? Data from the @DrivelineBB Launchpad illustrates that turning fast is important - and building the engine to do that is critical. Pitchers who throw 90+ MPH are overall more powerful, explosive, and strong!
All warm ups cover basic physical preparation, increase core body temp, and structured from general to physical. An often overlooked aspect of a warm up is ensuring the brain is equally prepared for the demands of the sport. Here is how to accomplish that 🧵⬇️ (1/6)
Long-term development🧵 This offseason, our main focus was on cleaning up Jairus's bat path, specifically his direction Goal was to open up his ability to drive the ball the other way while maintaining his '22-'23 levels of pull-side damage Bat path from 10/24 vs 5/25
Almost 5 years of work for Jairus. 2020-21 offseason (66.4➡️69.2 below) earned pro contract #1, and goals have only grown since. Multiple All-Star nods and SB records later, he's the ultimate example of taking your career into your own hands and executing long-term development
Another Monday here in Tampa. The boys are still getting after it and attacking the training relentlessly.
