Today, I’m launching a deeply personal project. I’m betting $100M that we can help computer scientists create more upside impact for humanity. Built for and by researchers, including @JeffDean & @jpineau1 on the board, @LaudeInstitute catalyzes research with real-world impact.
It felt like: Amazon - Shipping, quantity over quality. PMs wanted to just ship the new announcement at Reinvent. Microsoft - Revenue. They wanted to make money. Everyone does but Microsoft really highlighted it. Google - Technology. We wasted so much time circling about…
What was each of their core value system? As in, what did they care about as an org and what did they not care about?
I'm here and ready to share any and all opinions or experiences I had with Microsoft, Google, and Amazon now. It's been more than long enough and they can't hurt me anymore. Curious about anything? Ask away. I'll queue up some answers for later (stepping offline here shortly).
But I use many other MCPs to give the model context, including: - GitHub for git history (e.g. PR's, Issues) - Context7 for docs - Firecrawl for grabbing up to date documentation, and any other high quality web scraping - Notion for personal context (in my second brain) - etc
Here's a short narrated example of just one small nightmare localization brings to applications. 🙃 In this case, the complexity of mapping the preferred language list (not your locale!) to libintl on macOS. (Sound on, the video contents are not obvious without the narration)

My lab’s 5-year NIH R01 grant, awarded to study gene therapy for hearing loss, was abruptly terminated. I want to share how this action has been incredibly harmful and disruptive, not just to my lab, but to the scientific process itself. 1/15

None of them are overall good. But I think net Google drives me crazy. Their core products are usually better, and their design is usually better (Amazon's core design theme is like... "ugly" ? I truly don't understand). But Google makes things like API keys, billing, etc.…
2. Don't click any link because that will open your desired library. Don't type the title of a book you want to read because it might show up. Look at this, someone has pirated my own book. I'm livid!

unlike traditional systems that track file changes, git creates snapshots of your entire project state this is achieved through a key-value database (stored in .git/objects) with 4 primitive data types: - blob - the contents of a specific version of a file - tree - a content…
Do One Thing vs While You’re At It I realized that I had the advantage of having had good coworkers and mentors who have always appreciated the value of taking tiny steps. I was lucky to know “Curly’s Law”: “One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that.” buff.ly/39dNOqi
After some tool calls, Claude creates a PR, leaking everything. This includes: full names, travel plans, salary, list of private repos, etc.

So, this is what a scam looks like these days: - Hijack a trusted brand to gain instant credibility. - Build a list of targets and mass email them - Automate follow ups with an LLM, leading the target to book a meeting. - Push to download the Buzzu installer which could steal…
6. I learned that Buzzu actually isn't a meeting platform that you can use on the browser. It forces to install their software without much of an onboarding funnel. It simply downloads a file once you create an account, and the browser tells you to install it in order to join the…
🟢 ACK (For Removing Limits): Supporters believe that arbitrary data storage on Bitcoin is inevitable, and trying to suppress it only leads to more harmful workarounds - like securing data in other ways or doing private deals with miners. They argue that OP_RETURN is the least…
We found the title of a scroll for the first time! This cylinder of charcoal turns out to be "On Vices, Book 1" by Philodemus
