Now published in Journal of Neuroscience!🥳 @SfNJournals with public reviews and open datasets: jneurosci.org/content/45/18/…
New preprint on spike inference! How do models for spike inference trained on cortex generalize to very dissimilar datasets? To address this question, we performed analyses and experiments on excitatory and inhibitory neurons in the spinal cord: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/5
Two papers, three dimensions! Anna Maria Reuss describes a generic technique for 3D-histology of human archival paraffin blocks, and Francesca Catto shows breathtaking videos of mouse brains with Alzheimer's. journals.plos.org/plosone/articl… biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Amazing work by Anna Maria Reuss from @UZH_ch! Clearing and staining of large archival FFPE human tissue blocks from various organs. This method now enables comprehensive 3D studies from FFPE tissue biobanks.
How much analgesia is needed to manage pain levels in mice after brain surgeries? A single dose of meloxicam seems to be enough. Even the addition of opioids cannot provide a clear benefit (in line with recent work from others, see refs in our preprint): biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Very honored for the recognition of my work by my graduate/undergraduate alma mater! They granted me the FAN award 2025 and the CMB prize 2024. I am deeply grateful to my former and current mentors, my collaborators, and my family without whom this would not have been possible!

Excited to see our story now out in @NatureNeuro Many thanks to Sebastian @Ellorebo @MargheritaZamb2 @SarahMundt5 @FrisenJonas and all the other contributors! nature.com/articles/s4159…
I'm very happy to share that my main PhD work is finally out in @NatureNeuro ! All analysis code and preprocessed data is published online, check it out :) Big thank you to all co authors and everyone who supported me along this long journey! nature.com/articles/s4159…
As the time for @FENSorg approaches, the struggle of searching for poster abstracts on the official website becomes real. But fear not, we are back with the unofficial #FENS2024 abstract database, with a new, fast, and searchable format. fens2024.neuronaldynamics.eu

Check out the latest work on hippocampal, astrocytic signal processing from @ptrrupprecht in the @FritjofHelmchen lab out in @NatureNeuro ! Also something for the LC gang...
Out now in @NatureNeuro: "Centripetal integration of past events in hippocampal astrocytes regulated by locus coeruleus", nature.com/articles/s4159… With a great team: @FritjofHelmchen @BohacekLab @SianDuss @cloois and (twitterless) Denise Becker. 1/5
We wrote a contemporary review about the lateral habenula and it's function in value-guided behavior which is now published in @CellReports. Go check it out! cell.com/cell-reports/f…
Better quality, more compact, and cheaper open source light sheet microscope developed by @nvladimus and @voigtvision from the @FritjofHelmchen lab! Go check out the paper and ask your departement head if you can get one for Easter this year...

This #SalamanderSaturday, we're shouting out Noise Engineering (@noiseeng), who made a big splash with their recent donation to AF's newt-centric conservation projects, including our work with the Striped Newt (Notophthalmus perstriatus) Repatriation Program!
The Schmidt objective made cover in @NatureBiotech ! Many thanks to all coauthors & especially @FritjofHelmchen for allowing me to work on this crazy project that brings ideas from scallops & #astronomy to #Microscopy! #imaging nature.com/articles/s4158…
The January issue is live nature.com/nbt/volumes/42… Our cover shows neurons in the mouse hippocampus imaged with the Schmidt objective. Voigt et al. develop a multi-immersion objective based on a mirror instead of a lens go.nature.com/40qVlKH
"Why Frosted Flatwoods Salamanders (Ambystoma cingulatum)?" This short video, produced by Conservation Research Bridge Program Research Assistants Nadine and Natane, seeks to answer that question! For more information on this species, click below! amphibianfoundation.org/index.php/rese…
