It's a strange feeling releasing a book that I've been working on for 3+ years. A mix of excitement, nervousness & vulnerability. I've put more of myself into this book than I'm used to as an academic writing scientific papers in 3rd person. I hope that whoever decides to read it…

Live to 100? Review of How Not to Die (too soon) by @vicky_allan heraldscotland.com/opinion/252990…
Sad for science: when I see new COVID studies on controversial issues, I already know who wrote it based on what they said in early 2020. Science should be about an open mind, testing hypotheses & analysing data robustly. Not manipulating data to show you were right 5 years ago.
If you're looking for a weekend read, How Not to Die (too soon) is ±15% off at Waterstones & Amazon and in most local bookshops and libraries too waterstones.com/book/how-not-t….
Just a reminder that our politicians are letting this happen. I think the world will be surprised how high the death rate is when the conflict ends. I made mortality estimates that some said were too high- I wonder now if they were too low.

At some point, podcast hosts & their producers realised that clickbait misinformation is the secret to millions of listens & views. It's the commercial model- for money and advertising revenue- rather than info for the public good. Dangerous for health. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

In my new book I look at water quality, pricing and infrastructure in England (privatised) versus Scotland (publicly owned). It's clear which model works better-- and where clean water- whether to drink or to swim in- is seen as a basic job of government and a human right.
Happy Mon🍎- paperback cover just released. All about what we know about living longer, healthier lives from around the world.

As a doctor, it's rare to work in an era where a common disease- the most common paediatric disease- starts to vanish in front of your eyes 1/n
In a bumper day for RSV news, the NHS in the UK has also announced that nirsevimab will be made available to the babies that can't benefit from RSV vaccination - those born before their mother receives it because they are born preterm @devisridhar bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Glasgow is almost as cool as Edinburgh🤐🤐- more seriously, very cool conference. I’m talking about building a career in STEMM.

My reading ahead of Edinburgh Book Festival: 4 brilliant authors challenging the idea that science & health non-fiction is the preserve of men.

My book is finally available in the United States amazon.com/How-Not-Die-To…
Writing a talk for students on building a career as a scientist. Still feels surreal to go from reading this magazine as a kid, to studying for many, many years, to having my research & book covered by the @newscientist

@devisridhar - just finished your book - really enjoyed it - challenging and informative. Interested in preventative medicine and community health care - especially for mental health so gave me some ideas! Thanks

Joe Rogan: "Lyme disease turns out was man made. Turns out there's a lot of real evidence that Lyme disease was weaponized, and that it leaked out of a lab called Plum Island."
