Fantastic to attend the recent Street Elite graduation in Southall, helping young people train as sports coaches, with 80% going on to work. This is Labour's Plan to Get Britain Working in action, investing in skills & support to help people into good jobs.

I joined Anisha & all the team from McDonalds at Iron Bridge for a litter pick on Uxbridge Road. Good to see a responsible local business take action. The council has also increased fines for fly-tipping & is using CCTV to name & shame the perpetrators. #ThisIsOurHomeNotATip

Despite the rain this weekend, we were out as usual talking to residents, this time in Hanwell Broadway with local Labour Cllrs @elthornepr @PKnewstub @monhamidi.

In memory of my sister Margaret, we launched a Glioblastoma drug trial. Now, Margaret’s Trial is open on the NHS - and offering real hope. Ben, diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in 2022, saw his tumour vanish. His story helped make this happen. Watch here:

I held another of my regular coffee mornings at West London College in Walpole ward, Ealing Southall. Good to hear from so many residents. Lots raised from local policing to lime trees, Lammas Park, and Labour’s 10-Year NHS Plan.

I recently visited The Plough in Northfield ward & presented kitchen apprentice graduate Alexis with his certificate. Congratulations Alexis! Labour is improving apprentices to make them more flexible for workers & employers, building skills, jobs & thriving businesses.

The Brent River Park was the brainchild of Dubliner Luke Fitzherbert, so as a Dubliner myself I enjoyed being at the 50th anniversary of the park. Ealing Council's plan for a new regional park is the next stage of Luke's vision.

In Julie Minns Westminster Hall debate, I called for a national monument to honour the RAF Photographic Reconnaissance Unit’s vital WWII role including Ealing Southall heroes Warrant Officer Melvyn Harris & Sgt Frank Bastard. Time they got the recognition they deserve.

On the day our Labour govt announced votes for 16 & 17 year olds, it was fitting to welcome Villiers High School 6th formers to parliament for a Human Rights day with Southall Community Alliance. Their great questions prove young people know more than enough to vote!

The climate crisis is also a nature crisis, especially in cities like London. Bold projects like @EalingCouncil's regional park could help restore our environment with new habitats. I asked Ed Miliband if the new Nature Recovery Fund could help support such effective projects.

Labour is delivering the biggest upgrade in workers’ rights in a generation, so I had a lot to tell delegates at @unisontheunion Labour Link conference in Glasgow! Great to catch up with so many @unisonglr old friends last weekend.

Our up to £1bn Better Futures Fund will help tackle the structural causes of poverty. Bringing together public funds with social impact investments, it will open up opportunities for training and work across the country. My interview with the @guardian theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

A sweltering afternoon session talking to residents in Southall today. There were a lot more people in than I was expecting, all keen to have a chat!

Spent this morning knocking on doors talking to local people in Walpole ward in Ealing Southall. Lots of conversations about how Labour has ready reduced NHS waiting lists by more than a quarter of a million people.m!

I popped in to the summer barbeque at St Georges church in Southall today. They've now achieved a prestigious Gold 🌟 Eco Award 🏆in recognition of how hard they work on environmental issues.

Sybil Elgar school in Southall is an outstanding school for kids with autism & it celebrates its 60th birthday this year. It was wonderful to join their 1960s themed awards day this weekend with the @MayorofEaling #NationalAutismSociety

Myself, @jamesmurray_ldn & local Cllrs sampled some great local beers at @ealingbeerfest, the biggest of its type in London! Well done to CAMRA and the 300+ volunteers who helped make it happen.
