Here is what I've been working on for the last few months: we are launching the Centre for British Progress to make the progressive case for growth. Our founding essay describes how Britain once drove our collective progress, and how we must rediscover this dynamism.
💫 We’re launching the Centre for British Progress Our founding essay: Rediscovering British Progress is a case for growth that drives shared progress, rooted in Britain's values and industrial heritage. It all starts with a postcard from 1870 👇 britishprogress.org/articles/redis…

A year ago we had a new government and a new opportunity for growth. Today, there is a community of experts & advocates fighting to end stagnation in Britain. Some photos from the evening...
It was a joy to welcome @peterkyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation & Technology, to speak at our summer party last week! We also heard from @matthewclifford, a beacon of British progress, and our cofounders @jujulemons & @dc_lawrence
A UK wealth tax sounds simple: "tax the super‑rich, fund public services" But it's not. Our 16,000 word deep‑dive shows revenues are fragile, it puts growth, investment and jobs at risk, and there's no revenue before 2029. Here’s the evidence:
Important new report from @jujulemons & @ersatzben for @BritishProgress, setting out a better plan for the UK's Alan Turing Institute. In an age of geostrategic AI competition, we can't afford to be unfocused or complacent.
🚨 NEW REPORT 🚨 The Alan Turing Institute has visibly struggled, and is now at a critical juncture. The Secretary of State has intervened. What happens next? A new report for @britishprogress by me and @jujulemons sets out a plan: 🧵
The British people sense a “revolutionary” moment is at hand - this is what @LabourGrowth wants to do about it. By @MarkMcvitie, @Lola__McEvoy and @chriscurtis94 newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…
Democratic consent in Britain is at breaking point. Either this govt takes radical steps to turn the economy around or we face a profound collapse. Politics must to respond to the needs of the British people. We're going to do everything we can to make that happen.

a timely new report from @BritishProgress ! I think highly-capable AI agents have the potential to transform the way militaries are run over the next decade, so there is huge scope for impactful defense + AI work that ATI can tackle by narrowing its focus

Read our essay in today’s @NewStatesman on why Britain desperately needs a politics of strategic disruption, and how we aim to deliver that through a ‘modern Beveridge report for Britain’s economy’ the National Renewal Compact. 2/2 newstatesman.com/?p=494019
Britain stands at a revolutionary moment. For too long politics has failed those it was meant to serve. A year ago we came together to change that. Today we set out a bold vision to rebuild the economy and restore the democratic contract with the British people. 1/
Unbelievably dumb, the Guardian outdoing themselves. "Insulin is quantifiably bad, but I think it's also philosophically problematic. Blood sugar control offers comfort, making the unbearable bearable, at least for now. When you can buy a personal bubble of metabolic stability…
This is an unimaginably bad take in the @guardian. (1) because air conditioning is (at least in the UK) actively helpful for greening the grid, and (2) because there are no points for needless suffering in a climate crisis.
