Up early, sea-swimming in the morning light. Counting blessings. 🏊🏻♂️❤️🙏🌈

“The story” about Gaza is not about “umbrella protests” or even “BBC agendas” it is about this: In today’s @nytimes: Omer Bartov, professor of Holocaust and genocide studies at Brown University writes a must read piece. nytimes.com/2025/07/15/opi… via @NYTOpinion
So.... Trump removes the Murdochs and @emmatuckerWSJ from the White House press room. The internal pressure on Fox News to back the Journal and abandon Trump is hidden but immense. cnn.com/2025/07/21/med…
The power of the British press 'red in tooth and claw' is dwindling, the attempt to manipulate Lisa Nandy has failed and Tim Davie has survived as he should at the BBC - and the entire newspaper industry has failed to ignite HMG's super-injunction fallout into a populist scandal.…
We now have strange bedfellows pursuing Trump: Murdoch and the New York Times... Inside the Long Friendship Between Trump and Epstein nytimes.com/2025/07/19/us/… via @NYTimes
I'd pay a great deal for tickets to watch Murdoch Vs Trump here - the President 'sues Wall Street Journal for $10bn' over Epstein article - can he afford the disclosure? Rupert will just wait patiently.... thetimes.com/article/0356cc…
Celebrating 20 years of sobriety today with Max and Lulu, who have no memory of their daddy ever drinking. #Miracles #Gratitude #Recovery 2️⃣0️⃣🙏💕🎉

it’s all about timing in comedy. CBS shuttering @StephenAtHome (Stephen Colbert) just as Donald Trump is vacuumed up by Rupert and Truth Social combined is…. well… Colbert will last longer than CBS’ reputation put it that way.
Nice to appear in Weekend FT with my essay on the rise and fall of Fred Goodwin, banks and Scotland. Hubris in action. James Graham’s upcoming play Make It Happen should be a treat at the Edinburgh Festival on.ft.com/3Uibq3I
Any other tips for the Edinburgh Festival?

Rupert Murdoch cannot destroy a President alone, but Donald Trump has created his own existential Fan Hitter by literally building his own scaffold and that scaffold are the social media conspiracies upon which he was elected.
I have measured out my life in recovery chips. Tomorrow is my 20th sober birthday... Let me share my gratitude... and my story... 🙏💕2️⃣0️⃣
Whatever else Rupert Murdoch is or isn’t he remains, firstly and foremost, a journalist. He has always loved causing trouble and now he represents trouble for Donald Trump. He will not be intimidated… he won’t cave…
Make no mistake - Murdoch is a different beast to Bezos or Soon-Shiong. This isn’t his first rodeo. Ultimately, RM is about business - which is why you have to see the WSJ/Fox as part of a strategic empire: My analysis of the Murdoch/Trump relationship: theguardian.com/media/2025/jul…
Loved this, so lovely. Important stuff, done gently.
A hundred sculptures along 3 km of beach… Sir Antony Gormley takes me to Crosby and describes his love of landscape @BBCRadio4 @bbcSounds bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
As I’ve written many times, only antisemites say “antisemmetic”. Only Jew haters can’t be bothered to say it properly. When ‘lawyer and friend’ Jacqueline Mckenzie goes on Radio 4 and says “Diane Abbott is not antisemmetic” she damns them both, simultaneously. Quite a trick.
CBS’ Stephen Colbert decision does seem sinister…. when BBC says - as it often has to of CBS, that it is “our US partner..” I wonder of that feels right now…. does it now pass the smell test? telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025/0…
Quite the Fan Hitter.
I was fired from Astronomer today. I ran our company’s events team. Turns out our CEO and Head of HR were having an affair and got caught at the Coldplay concert that I bought the company tickets to. They blamed me for getting caught and fired me on the spot. Taking some…
I am in awe of Danny having read and returned to his book throughout this year to gain perspective. He is right to post this.
I am so disappointed by Diane Abbott, because of my respect for her as a pioneer. But my reply to her observation that Jews didn’t have to sit in the back of the bus, is that she’s right. Because Jews weren’t allowed on the bus at all. Here’s my Mum’s experience (from my book)
Spot on. And not just the Beeb - @Nigel_Farage gets a very easy ride because he is treated as fellow commentator and fellow mainstream media critic of main parties. Never gets challenged on his Brexit role. Rarely on actual policy. Well said @EdwardJDavey
Watch @EdwardJDavey call out the BBC for their failure to hold Nigel Farage to account.
Prince Harry is turning the hostile UK press around. This is not an accident. Find out why. And how. Tonight: @BBCRadio4/8pm/When It Hits the Fan and on @BBCSounds. 💂👑🙏
